They should put the SEC Championship in Nashville.

I've lived in or next to Atlanta for just about all of my 29 years and have never been mugged, held up, stabbed, shot, or anything similar.

I have been hounded worse by bums walking around NO than I ever have in atlanta.

All good points. I would like to experience the big game in other stadiums. Not really a knock on Atlanta, just want to shake things up.

I can't really disagree from a fan standpoint but I don't think the SEC stands to gain anything from a business standpoint moving it around. If it wasn't selling out or crazy hyped every year ok, move it.

The ACC thing is real, no one wants the ACCCG in Charlotte. They would move it in a heartbeat to ATL if it opened up.

I was half kidding. But I have been to Atlanta a lot and I have felt some serious reverse racism downtown before FWIW. Same experience I've gotten in downtown Memphis, but at least Memphis has good music and a centralized strip of bars with heavy police presence.

I usually just stay in Buckhead and hang out down there though. Last time I stayed at the Four Seasons downtown, the concierge highlighted areas on a map that the wife and I shouldn't go. It was absurd.

ETA:

And New Orleans is hood as shite and dangerous. No doubt. But it is also fun as hell with unlimited things going on at any given time. Atlanta blows.

French Quarter, Uptown bars, live music, casinos, etc. Atlanta just isn't good for a weekend party/fun experience compared to New Orleans and thats not really debatable.

I'm not going to argue that Atlanta is a better weekend destination than New Orleans. But it is also a reasonable drive to make a day trip out of it for about every regular contender besides LSU and UF(and still closer for UF than NOLA would be). With the cost of playoffs and having 2 more potential destination trips if you win the SECCG...I think the minority of people want to spend a fortune staying in New Orleans for the weekend. Atlanta is easier for everyone besides LSU and A&M if they ever make it

I don't think the SECCG is something many people hang around a few days before or after. Most of the time, the teams aren't set until 7-14 days before hand. It's not like the Sugar Bowl where you have a month to prepare. I've been to plenty of games in Atlanta and have never felt threatened.

The game will NEVER be in Nashville. They won't play the game outside in December again.

New Orleans would be a great place for the SEC Championship game.

Your dump of a dome got embarrassed on the biggest stage of the year...New Orleans has zero business hosting. Some of you NOLA/LSU fricks are so retarded, I swear

I second all of this, we're even the same age.

New Orleans is one of my favorite towns, but the likelihood of getting mugged there is much stronger than in Atlanta. GTFO.

Dallas? Tampa?

Nashville in December would suck.

New Orleans would be cool but most agree that it really belongs in Atlanta. It's tradition at this point and the second it leaves, the ACC will get it and the SEC won't be able to get it back. That's the reality of it.

Also, all the other things others have said, best airport to get in and out of, centrally located for most of the teams, plenty of hotels and fan experience venues close by etc..

Nashville in December would be about as bad as it gets. NOLA or Dallas are at least feasible.

Ah, forgot about that aspect. Wouldn't be terrible putting them outdoors, though.

Too far for basically the entire conference.

These games have turned more into events for the fans. They aren't going to allow for weather to be a factor. It will remain in a dome or a retractable roof.

Dallas has a huge airport and it's not that much further of a drive for most teams to Tampa. At least I don't think.
