Most of the member institutions of the NCAA are public.

Do you really think it would stop there? What’s to stop Phil Knight from promising every recruit a six-figure deal with Nike if the commit to Oregon?

See my post above.

1. It's already happening

2. Why is that a bad thing?

So this private organization (that one can argue is a state actor) not paying the labor that produces all this money because of the quality of the work they submit while the coaches and ADs make all the money is all well and good with you? My man, what that essentially entails is indentured servitude for the student-athletes who RISK THEIR BODIES in this pursuit which is illegal under the 13th Amendment considering the monopoly the NCAA has over college sports. Need to get smart, bro.

I don't see why not.

Organizations have come together and created the rules they see fit. It’s a voluntary system for the participants. They exchange their talents for the benefit of being developed and showcased to future employers.

If you believe this you have your head up your arse. The last time this was true was probably the 1970s.

Acting like these kids are exploited is one of the biggest farces going right now.

The majority are not, but the ones that are are getting bent over and fricked raw. It could be costing them at least several hundreds of thousands of dollars.

There isn’t a single way to pay players that would be fair for all athletes

I'm failing to see why it has to be equal for Jonny Manzeil who brought in literally 10s of millions of revenue and built a new stadium that he never got to play in and Suzie Q from the field hockey team. Where else in America does that exist?

This is my favorite part of his retarded arguement. One, it isn't private, and two, it's an association made up of members it's not really even an organization.

So would you be cool with getting rid of all financial aid and letting people use their market value to earn their college tuition, room and board?

Because what you are saying is: The ones that have no market value, let the NCAA support them. If everyone is being oppressed, let everyone take advantage of that sweet market value.

We'll let the NCAA and student-athletes union decide that in collective bargaining, you know, how AN ACTUAL FREE MARKET WORKS

The two things you are describing aren't even remotely similar.

It's not going to be the wild west man. It's clearly the better alternative. System stays relatively the same except people that have the ability to use their likeness for profit are able to, just like any other student enrolled at any other university

In the US, it’s exactly zero.

Yes, you are saying the scholarship system is insufficient. But apparently you want it in place for the 99 percent takers.

Why can't you get it through your thick skull that it isn't an either/or situation?

Agreed, this isn't either/or, nothings mutually exclusive, we're just advocating for deregulation of the bitch as relates to the essentially indentured labor and letting the free market control
