NBA's new rules on flopping...
quote:
Any player who is determined to have committed a flop during the regular season will be subject to the following:
Violation 1: Warning
Violation 2: $5,000 fine
Violation 3: $10,000 fine
Violation 4: $15,000 fine
Violation 5: $30,000 fine
If a player violates the anti-flopping rule six times or more, he will be subject to discipline that is reasonable under the circumstances, including an increased fine and/or suspension.
The league will announce at a later date a separate set of penalties for flopping that will apply during the playoffs. LINK
I HATE the NBA. But I LOVE THIS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They probably should. I'm in favor of this rule but the PA just can't let the league set up new rules with monetary fines that isn't collectively bargained for or at least covered under some existing provision of the current CBA.

It would be great if they did, so the NBA wouldn't pussy foot around and take a harder stance on flopping. I'm all for suspension of players for flopping.

James Harden approves of this.

"It's good. Guys can't be flopping and get away with it anymore," Oklahoma City guard James Harden said. "It was bound to happen at some point. Obviously, the league got fed up with it and they put it in. I'm happy they did."

My gripe is with the rewarding of flopping.
Players should be able to flop all they want. They should just look like idiots when the refs don't give them the call.
This.
