NBA might wanna give Giannis that MVP award with the quickness before Game 4

Think I’ve said it before, but think Giannis might get the James Harden MVP treatment from now on until he starts to have some more playoff success.

Not sure if that’s right, but feel like a lot of voters are going to want to see him make a Finals before voting for him as Regular Season MVP going forward.

Yep, they lost 4 straight last year in the ECF to be eliminated, and now they are about to be swept by the East's 5 seed.

People love to hate on Harden, and Lebron for that matter, but if this happened to either of them, there would be a media shitshow

Feel like Giannis is definitely getting a pass those other guys wouldn’t. Granted, I think Bud has to be better. He has to play his starters more. Giannis needs to see the court for 40+ minutes today unless it’s a blowout.

He got a pass last year. I'm sure all the hot take shows will be piling on when they lose this year.

You gotta ask the question if Giannis is a number 1 on a team. I feel like out of all the superstars he’s the most dependent on having another player compliment him.

Also it appears going big is the solution for the Lakers this series as WCA was screaming in game 1

I logged LeBron and AD isolations/post ups from game 1:

In big lineups (AD + McGee/Dwight): 1.25 PPP, packed paint 33% of the time in 9 possessions

In small(er) lineups (AD at the 5): 0.89 PPP, packed paint 89% of the time in 9 possessions

Play big.

The Lakers will lose the series if they go small. The solution is to STAY BIG. LA's two-big lineups limit James Harden's penetration (which means fewer layups and kickouts for 3s), on offense it keeps someone near the rim for lobs and offensive boards. We saw this work in Game 1.

The Heat have certainly figured out how to defend him. Forcing him into a lot of turnovers, and of course when he's the guy going to the line the most and can't consistently make them it doesn't help matters.

I also feel like Giannis is getting a pass because this is such an unusual situation. Normally the media would have time between each game to really blow this up, not this year. and the basketball has been really good with a bunch of storylines that are more exciting

But they will make a bigger deal out of it next season.

ehhh... I don’t know about that. He just is the worst shooter of that group which makes him more dependent in crunch time probably. Like, Giannis is the last guy at that superstar level you want to take a 3 for the win.

I think some of that is personality differences. Giannis always seemed like a more humble player.

Giannis has his deficiencies in his game, but this series is more about Budenholzer getting exposed by Spo tbh.

Spo is coaching circles around Bud, and Bud has made NO adjustments whatsoever.

Going big, yeah that probably the right thing...

But going big with a lineup of Lebron/Rondo/Dwight/AD/KCP or Caruso (I forget who the 2nd guard was in that lineup in the 3rd or 4th Q)?

Thats a disastrous lineup offensively

Rondo cannot be playing as many minutes as he did during game 1, unless he found something in his game. He was so bad.

Agreed. Basically any lineup with Rondo on the floor with Lebron has been atrocious all year. I’m befuddled Frank keeps trying to make that work
