This weekend is one of the greater times for NBA purists. Not only does free agency start on Saturday, the NBA Summer League does as well. It's a time for rookies, younger NBA players and guys we started to forget about a chance to shine and give fans a glimpse of some of the lesser-known prospects.

Also, if you guys don't want to watch full Summer League games, they have Youtubers that compile the top performances and rookies performances into shorter videos

These guys also do videos like this during the season, so two great channels to subscribe to

ORLANDO SUMMER LEAGUE (JULY 1-8)
Schedule

Charlotte Hornets:
Roster
This roster took a hit with the sprained ankle to Malik Monk. There's still a few to watch. Out of Leonard Hamilton's shadow, Dwayne Bacon has a shot to lead this summer league in scoring. LSU fans can get excited with Johnny O'Bryant playing. Briante Weber earned himself a multi-year deal with Charlotte and will show on the defensive end why he did. Gabe York averaged 15.8 ppg for Erie last year and can throw down some highlight dunks.

Dallas Mavericks:
Roster
Dallas is saving their big guns for the Vegas summer league, so Orlando is stuck with the b-squad for the most part. Jonathan Motley will look to rebound after a surgery to repair a torn meniscus caused him to go undrafted. The slowest player in NBA history, Satnam Singh, will showcase his ineptitude for speed. LSU is represented once again with Bruce..err Keith Hornsby. Leaving Arizona early cost him badly, as Brandon Ashleycontinues to toil around the G-League and Summer League ranks. Cat Barber averaged 16.2 ppg in the G-League last season and can get to the bucket.

Detroit Pistons:
Roster
The smooth-shooting lottery pick Luke Kennard headlines the team, knowing he has SVG to look forward to. 2016 first-rounder Henry Ellenson is back, and nearly averaged 18 ppg in the G-League but will have to work his three-point percentage to maintain his versatility at the next level. Lorenzo Brown and Dez Wells have always been two of my personal favorites just for their entertaining style.

Indiana Pacers:
Roster
I forgot who it is on the MSB, but someone's favorite player, T.J. Leaf, will look to showcase his versatility. Thankfully for him, he'll be playing next to Jarnell Stokes, who has a good chance at dominating down low in Orlando due to his size and skillset. Joe Young lit up the boxscores last year in Orlando as a rookie and will be looking to do it once more. Georges Niang can do a little bit of everything, like fellow former Cyclone Royce White, minus the fear of flying.

Miami Heat:
Roster
The final lottery selection in 2017, Bam Adebayo has a good chance and being penciled in as the starting PF for the Heat with a good showing barring a free agent signing. Zach Auguste is a high-energy big that could earn some time as a backup after going undrafted. Norvel Pelle is another personal favorite of mine, but playing time may be sparse for him with the other bigs on the team.

New York Knicks:
Roster
The roller coaster offseason for the Knicks can possibly take a backseat in Orlando. Frank Ntilikina will make his debut, although the Knicks have already had issues spelling his last name. Once thought to be a perfect fit for the triangle offense, that idea is gone with Peyote Phil out the door (the Mavs thank you for DSJ). Nigel Hayes was a solid college player, but will need to show his 6'8" frame and skillset is NBA ready. Dominique Jones continues to trying to keep his NBA career alive after being a bust in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Oklahoma City Thunder:
Roster
Obviously, Sabonis won't be on the roster since he was traded in the George deal. Terrance Ferguson can now earn some key bench time with Paul George and Andre Roberson entrenched as the wing starters.

Orlando Magic:
Roster
Host team Orlando will get their first glimpse of No. 6 pick Jonathan Isaac, who will shed the veil that was Leonard Hamilton at FSU and is my favorite player in this 2017 draft class. Derrick Walton Jr. came up big for Michigan in the postseason and will look to continue that momentum. LSU makes their presence felt one last time in Orlando with Josh Gray.

UTAH SUMMER LEAGUE (JULY 3-6)
Schedule

Boston Celtics:
Roster
Likely the most talent in Utah, Jaylen Brown and No. 3 pick Jayson Tatum highlight the squad. Brown likely won't play too much in Utah or Las Vegas to preserve him for the season, but the Celtics may want to see what both can do as they'll possibly be fighting for the same minutes. If the Celtics make big moves in the offseason, expect Ante Zizic to get major minutes down low if Olynk and Zeller are not retained. Semi Olejeye was a surprise to see fall to the 2nd round, which Boston wasted little time in taking advantage of, but he may be G-League bound unless the Celtics make a big move.

Philadelphia 76ers
Roster
Unfortunately, Ben Simmons won't be playing as he returns from a foot injury and they know what they have in him. However, the top pick Markelle Fultz will give a glimpse of the culmination of The Process. Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, yes I spelled his name right, will look to improve on a successful rookie year, and yeah, he has a very hot wife (you can look it up if you care). Jonah Bolden fits their up-tempo style for a big and could earn a roster spot after playing a year in Australia. Aaron Harrison shot 40.3% from three in the D-League last season and will need to improve that if he wants any meaningful NBA time.

San Antonio Spurs:
Roster
The Spurs have a solid roster as well, setting up for a good Utah league. Dejounte Murray has a good chance at starting at point for the Spurs as Tony Parker recovers from his surgery. Patty Mills re-signed, but Pops likes him off the bench. Davis Bertans came on strong near the end of the season and will look to build on that progress. Livio Jean-Charles has been hyped for a few years but has yet to register anything meaningful for the Spurs so far. Derrick White was their first round pick and is a perfect combo guard for Pops' backcourt. Cory Jefferson has always been a personal favorite of mine. Jaron Blossomgame can throw down some highlights.

Utah Jazz
Roster
Dante Exum could see his role heavily increase if George Hill goes elsewhere in free agency. Exum still hasn't quite found it yet and will need this offseason to show the Jazz he's ready. Utah sent Trey Lyles and the No. 24 pick to Denver to take Donovan Mitchell, who will need to show his defense and athleticism can be coveted in the Jazz backcourt. Two players that should have stayed in college another year, Tony Bradley and Nigel Williams-Goss will need to show the doubters they made the right choice. J.P. Tokoto is another personal favorite and can definitely put up some highlights with his dunks and flashy passes. Finally in the "A name you haven't heard in forever", 2007 first rounder Julian Wright is trying to give the NBA one last chance.

VEGAS SUMMER LEAGUE (July 7-July 17)
Schedule

Atlanta Hawks
No official roster yet, but a quick look at their roster and previous lists at the event, the Hawks have never had much there. Taurean Prince will likely be the highlight of the roster, and should get plenty of playing time this season with the yard sale that's happening in Atlanta. John Collins was their 2017 first rounder and with both Millsap and Howard gone, Collins will get some solid time as well.

Boston Celtics:
Roster
Boston will utilize the same roster they sported in Utah but you could see a little less of Jaylen Brown and No. 3 pick Jayson Tatum depending on how they feel after Utah. Ante Zizic could get solid backup minutes down low behind Horford and Olynyk. Semi Olejeye was a surprise to see fall to the 2nd round, which Boston wasted little time in taking advantage of, but he may be G-League bound unless the Celtics make a big move.

Brooklyn Nets
Roster
Brooklyn may actually have a good team in Vegas due to their NBA roster being full of younger players. Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Archie Goodwin, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Isaiah Whitehead all have NBA experience and are good young guys to build around. Goodwin can put some highlights out there. I've been a big fan of Isaiah Whitehead. Unfortunately for the few remaining Nets fans, first-round pick Jarrett Allen will miss Vegas with an injury.

Chicago Bulls
Roster
The defending Vegas champions bring a retooled roster with them after the Jimmy Butler trade. Kris Dunn is one of the newest Bulls, and can be a franchise point guard, he just needs more time to develop. Lauri Markkanen, the No. 7 pick, was one of the other key pieces in the deal, and can find significant time with Taj Gibson long gone and Nikloa Mirotic likely not being brought back. Denzel Valentine, their lottery pick last year, is a solid combo guard that will likely start next to Dunn. Cameron Payne was sent over in that Gibson deal and will be competing with Dunn for those point guard minutes. Chris Walker and Amida Brimah are two athletic, shot-blocking bigs that can put together some highlights. Finally, LSU is getting some love with Antonio Blakeney, who can be one to light up the scoreboard if he gets hot.

Cleveland Cavaliers
Roster
Probably the worst team at Vegas this year. Kay Felder, the diminutive 5'9" point guard is entertaining with his athleticism but needs to improve as a true point guard. Edy Tavares was the 2016-17 G-League Defensive Player of the Year and could find his way to a roster spot with a good performance.

Dallas Mavericks
Roster
The 2017 Vegas Champs are here...okay just kidding, but they do have a good roster coming in. Dennis Smith Jr. will be looking to show he is the franchise point guard the Mavs envisioned in taking him ninth. However, incumbent starter Yogi Ferrell will also be playing and trying to show the younger gun that spot is his. Nicolas Brussino is an intriguing player at 6'8" with point forward-esque skills. He will need to refine that craft to get serious time on a Mavs roster flush with backcourt players. A.J. Hammons is likely G-League bound again unless the Mavs botch their Nerlens Noel signing, but Hammons does have skill, just no room for him. Dorian Finney-Smith was a spot starter for the Mavs last year and will likely have that role again, providing a rangy defender off the bench.

Denver Nuggets
Roster
The Nuggets fans will be too excited about the Millsap signing to worry about the Summer League and it makes sense: they really don't have anything. Juancho Hernangomez was a surprise for the Nuggets last year as they hope he continues to improve. If Emmanuel Mudiay doesn't start getting his shite together, second-rounder Monte Morris may sneak in and steal his spot. Morris is a solid point guard who broke the NCAA record with a 4.79 assist/turnover ratio in his freshman year and broke that his senior year with a 5.21 ratio.

Golden State Warriors
Roster
Probably my favorite roster in Vegas. Patrick McCaw probably isn't too happy that Livingston and Iguodala are back, along with the Warriors pursuit of Swaggy P, but McCaw still got time in the Finals and could earn more. Of course the Warriors get a steal in the draft in Jordan Bell, a perfect style of center for them. Bell blocks shots well, runs the floor and can throw it down. Another player most people overlooked, Chris Boucher went undrafted and signed by the Warriors. He won't play after getting ACL surgery in late February, but he could make the NBA roster in October or later on in the year with his shot blocking and ability to shoot the three. Meanwhile, Damian Jones could find a roster spot with a similar skillset to Boucher in a taller frame at 7'0". Kevon Looney has been a disappointment and will need to show something soon. Not surprising, the Warriors have a lot of three-point shooting in Bryce Alford, Elgin Cook and Deividas Dulkys.

Houston Rockets
Roster
The Rockets had to piece together this roster after giving up a lot of their youth in the Chris Paul trade, but it's not a bad roster. Zhou Qi is being brought over from China and has a unique skillset in a frail 7'1" frame. Expect him to compete in the G-League. Isaiah Hartenstein was the lone pick in the 2017 draft and can go out to three-point range, but will need some fine tuning. I was a little surprised that Cameron Oliver went undrafted with his ability to shoot the three and block shots as a big, and he could find a roster spot if he shows he has some post game. LSU finally gets represented with Tim Quarterman on the roster.

Los Angeles Clippers
Roster
I thought there'd be more here after the Paul deal, but I guess not. Brice Johnson was hampered by a herniated disk last year, but should be one of the first guys off the bench this year. Jawun Evans was electric last year with Oklahoma State and drew a few Chris Paul comparisons during the season. Now he has the opportunity to be the next Paul for LAC. Kendall Marshall and Hollis Thompson have solid NBA experience, and Marshall is an odd case, struggling to hold an NBA job after finishing tied for second in assists in 2013-14.

Los Angeles Lakers
Roster
There's no one on this team, just move on. Who cares? Rile up you Lakers fans enough? Okay, we get our first NBA glimpse of Lonzo Ball and likely Lavar will get some significant camera time, adding to the entertainment factor (or annoying factor depending on which side you're on). Brandon Ingram will be the key recipient of Ball's passes, and these two could be the only significant players remaining on the Lakers roster before the 2018-19 season . The 7'1" Ivica Zubac was a fan favorite last year, and he could definitely earn more playing time with another strong performance. And of course I have to give some love to my A&M brethren Alex Caruso. I know WCA will approve.

Memphis Grizzlies
Roster
RTR, where are you man? I miss you in this thread. The Grizzlies have another solid roster. Wayne Selden is another personal favorite of mine and a nice combo guard skillset. He will likely be overshadowed by Wade Baldwin IV, who is a better passer with the similar skillset. LSU is represented again with Jarell Martin, who has advanced his game but still needs to take the next step to get significant NBA minutes. Deyonta Davis was a raw prospect when he was drafted in 2016, so this could be a good opportunity for the athletic big to continue to improve. Dillon Brooks is an entertaining player and is relentless in throwing down on anyone. Expect a highlight dunk or two there.

Miami Heat:

Milwaukee Bucks
Roster
The spotlight will definitely be on Thon Maker, who likely has the highest ceiling (and the roof as well in the words of the GOAT) of any player in the Vegas League, it will come down to Maker reaching it. Maker made significant strides last year and could create a scary duo with the Greek Freak next season. Rashad Vaughn has struggled to find any playing time and needs to do something soon and show that shooting ability if he wants to maintain a roster spot. D.J. Wilson was a relative unknown up until last year and broke out in March for Michigan, so the athletic big with decent range will need to show his last college year was not a fluke.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Roster
Minnesota will sport one of the worst rosters in Vegas, but that won't bother Thibs with the squad he has put together. The long bright spot, Justin Patton, who the T'Wolves took with the No. 16 pick in the Butler trade, is listed, but he is out for Vegas and possibly the whole season after breaking his fifth metatarsal in a workout. Marcus Paige was one of the best points at North Carolina, and will look to earn minutes off the bench. Deonte Burton can create matchup nightmares with his 6'5" 250 lb. frame along with good athleticism for his size. Jack Gibbs put up big scoring numbers at Steph Curry's alma mater and can do the same in Vegas.

New Orleans Pelicans
Roster
I know I'm going to get hate, but definitely not one of the best rosters in Vegas. James Young has to be on his last chance of staying around the NBA. The Pelicans need shooters on the wing badly, giving Young a key opportunity to earn that playing time. Cheick Diallo made big strides last year after a tumultuous college career at Kansas, and can get some playing time behind AD and Boogie (I really hope that duo works). Frank Jackson, the only pick of the Pelicans in the 2017 draft, probably should have stayed in college, but saw the writing on the wall. A good point guard but very raw. Kaleb Tarczewski is your old-school big that was overshadowed last year at Arizona by Lauri Markkanen, but he could definitely find a place on the Pelicans' bench.

Phoenix Suns
Roster
Probably the most entertaining team in Vegas. The Suns were probably ecstatic to see Josh Jackson fall to them, giving them a solid wing to pair next to Devin Booker. Marquese Chriss is an uber athletic big that can fly, whether it's on dunks or blocks. Expect him to improve on expanding his game. However, Derrick Jones Jr. has him beat in the dunk department and will need to show he can do more than just that. Tyler Ulis will enjoy throwing all those lobs, as Ulis was a solid backup point guard for the Suns last year. Finally, Dragan Bender has a unique skillset in that 7'1" frame, but he will need to continue to refine his skills.

Portland Trail Blazers
Roster
The Trail Blazers might have the top young frontcourt duo in Vegas in Zach Collins and Caleb Swanigan. Collins is another high ceiling first rounder due to not getting much playing time at Gonzaga, but the athletic center is a solid shot blocker at 7'0" and showed he has three-point range. Swanigan was one of my favorite college bigs last year. A good inspirational story as well, he is a double-double machine waiting to happen with a solid mid-range game and good post moves. Jake Layman had some strong performances last year, he's going to need to become more consistent though. Pat Connaughton is a solid athlete, but he will need to show more than just that to get solid playing time. R.J. Hunter was a March Madness hero, but his shooting has not translated at the next level.

Sacramento Kings
Roster
Sacramento is slowly becoming a team solidly built for the future. De'Aaron Fox, who they coveted, fell into their laps at No. 5 and they expect him to be their franchise point guard. Buddy Hield, who was the No. 6 pick last year and part of the Boogie trade, will be his backcourt running mate and continue to improve on making his shooting game NBA caliber. Malachi Richardson was the No. 22 pick in 2016 and will be groomed to be a sixth man on this Kings roster with his scoring ability. Frank Mason III was Mr. Everything at Kansas and could situate himself as the backup point guard of the future for the Kings. Justin Jackson is a little old for a rookie this day and age, but he is a guy that you can plug and play at the wing. Down low, the Kings boast three first rounders in Georgios Papagiannis, Skal Labissiere and 2017 pick Harry Giles. Papagiannis was a raw prospect and will continue to improve, but is massive in the post. Labissiere has the best shot at starting next to Willie Cauley-Stein and showed his all-around game at points this past season. Finally, Giles is a feel-good story as he has dealt with torn ACLs in both knees, yet still has a lot of talent.

Toronto Raptors
Roster
While he is listed on the roster, first-rounder OG Anunoby will not be playing as he recovers from ACL surgery in January. Anunoby was on pace to be a lottery pick and likely a top-10 pick before the injury, dropping him to the No. 23 pick. He could be ready for the start of the season and with the departure of P.J. Tucker, he could be in line for some playing time. Jakob Poeltl was a raw, athletic big out of Utah in 2016 and will need to refine his craft if he wants to be a backup for the Raptors. Kennedy Meeks is a load to deal with in the post and could challenge Poeltl for minutes with the Raptors.

Utah Jazz

Washington Wizards
Roster
With the Wizards retaining Otto Porter, their roster is filled at 15, so basically this will be their G-League roster in action barring any unforeseen changes. Chris McCullough was part of their deal in trading their first round pick and has a good skillset for his size, but is still very raw. Jared Cunningham and Ike Diogu were both first-rounders at one point that are still trying to chase that NBA dream. Cunningham can put up some highlight dunks at least. Kris Jenkins was the Villanova hero for their title in 2016. Devin Robinson may have made a mistake coming out early, but he's a bouncy bigman. Finally, let's get some A&M love with Danuel House.

Not a single person will be paying attention to Orlando this year. It's all about Sho'Time Ball in Vegas. ESPN is carrying every game.

Orlando is fun, but the Vegas Circuit is where it's at. Did I read correctly that Philly is participating in that as well?

Eh, it's fine. I should be good, and even so, it'll survive

I think the 24 is the highest turnout there, which is why I'm surprised more teams that are doubling up aren't doing what the Mavs are doing and saving some of their guys for that, which they may and just limit their minutes

Any age limit? Or seasons played in NBA? Was curious how they would define being 2 old for the league.

I didn't realize we were underway in Orlando this early this morning

Adebayo showed some nice moves in the first half. I know it's just the summer league, but Adebayo is going to earn that starting PF spot next to Whiteside

bams video is insane

its always weird going from the lakers who play in a 18k arena, and who usually do a decent job at filling it up, to seeing teams play in gyms with no real fan seating
