Observations and take aways:
1) I was surprised to see KG and Kareem to be top 50 in both. I don't think either get much credit for their passing abilities. It is incredibly impressive to even make the top 100 for a forward/center, and even more so to make top 50.

2) Really puts into perspective how special Lebron is as both a playmaker and a scorer. He will be the first player to be in the top ten in both, as a forward no less. Oscar is the only other to make top 25 for both. Furthermore, Lebron will in all likelihood finish top 5 in both. Points is a lock, he is 381 points away from 5th and will reach that next season barring injury. He is 1,933 assists away from 5th. That is doable. If he averages 5.9 assists per game (his individual season career low in his rookie year), for 4 full 82 game seasons, then he will just get to 5th. It's hard to predict how many games he will play and when he will start to decline but I think it is more reasonable than not he will play the equivalent of 4 more seasons at 6 assists per game. Once he is fifth, he is only 194 away from 3rd in assists. For those wondering, 2nd place in assists is virtually unreachable for him. The only other thing that could hinder him is Chris Paul, who is currently 500 assists ahead of him, so he would have to also make up those 500 on Paul and that might not be doable. Alas, he has a legitimate shot at being top 3 in point and top 3 in assists. This is mind-blowing considering no one else is even close to something like that.

I will update it with playoff rankings later as well. No one may care or find it as interesting as me but at least I will have it compiled for myself if nothing else.

LeBron James is the greatest basketball player to ever play this game, it’s not arguable not up for debate he’s the Prince of pro basketball, excels at so many different things and can be as effective a shooting forward as he is a point forward. Game. Set. Match. Come at me bro.

At first it can come as a surprise. But when you think about how long Kobe played at such a high level, and usually with the ball in his hands, it makes sense.

I'm a Magic Johnson homer, but it's always sad to me his career was cut short by HIV. He'd easily be second in assists because he was still playing at a high level when he retired. Points wise, he would be top fifty at a bare minimum.

One thing that list drives home is the importance of consistency and being injury free. All the top guys are also amazingly durable and consistent players.

Magic is 1,948 points away from 50th (23.76 PPG for an 82 game season), so at a minimum 50th is probably correct. 1,950 assists away from 2nd, which assuming 3 more seasons of play from him and he probably gets there. I don’t really know enough about the specifics of his career to guess how many more elite years he had in his tank, if not for the HIV.

Jason Terry and Joe Johnson both were big surprises to me. Part of their inclusion is due to longevity but there is something to be said about a long career of being a productive player.

He retired at 31, and had averaged 19 and 12 the year before, which was basically right in line with the remainder of his career.

He had the short comeback 4 years later where he was still decent despite the huge rust. I'd think he had another 2 or 3 seasons of 18-19 and 12 before a decline set in.

He also played in the ASG after a half year of retirement and won MVP and looked good on the Dream team. I'm not sure if he would have passed Stockton just due to longevity, but he was still the best PG in the league when he retired, and probably would have been for a season or two more.

In 2 seasons it's likely that LeBron will be 3rd all time in points and 7th all time in assists.

That's damn impressive.
