I think it was Jackson that said he would love for the Pels to give him a call a year or so ago.

I was pretty pissed at the time. I would’ve loved to see how Randle would work out as a small ball 5 next to Lebron.
IIRC Randle asked to be renounced after a meeting with the Lakers because they didn’t offer him a long term contract. Also there’s rumors that the Lakers front office and Randle’s agent Aaron Mintz have some sort of beef considering he’s also the agent of D’angelo Russell and Paul George. Most seem to believe Mintz is the one who notified Silver that Magic was tampering

Bill Simmons had a pretty funny conspiracy theory on that a while back. He thinks Mintz was mad the Lakers new front office used Russell in a salary dump to the Nets. So then Magic continues tampering with George even after getting fined by the NBA. Mintz rats them out to Silver but Silver knows Lebron wants to go to LA. So Silver tells Magic he won’t make this public and won’t take draft picks but you can’t sign George. If you continue doing this, I’ll penalize the shite out of the Lakers and screw up your chances with Lebron. That’s why George didn’t even meet with the Lakers.

I think George and the Lakers were working together to force a trade. The Lakers decided they didn't want to give up more than Clarkson and a late 1st. Pissed George off and the rest is history.
