The Lakers have moved into "serious contention" on signing Carmelo Anthony, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Oh boy. Bill Simmons of ESPN had a similar report earlier today and the Lakers may actually be considered as the favorite to sign the 2012-13 scoring champ. The Lakers only have four players under contract right now can offer Melo a max four-year, $97 million.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh "could be jarred loose into seriously considering the free-agent market," according to Yahoo! Sports.
There's a good chance this is all a smokescreen, but it's certainly making things extremely interesting. If LeBron does sign with the Heat, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade won't be far behind. LeBron's agent has been taking plenty of meetings, and this Yahoo! report says the Suns are a darkhorse. Stay tuned.

He likely just has very good sources in the big markets, which makes it easier to talk about them.
That's my point. He doesn't have the same kind of sources in the smaller market teams so he just reacts and doesn't understand what the bigger picture is.

he was using youtube highlights to evaluate players during the draft
He was talking about Dante Exum. Not much of a better place to have actually seen him.
What analyst out there is breaking down film on 60-70 something NBA draft picks.

eta: he was also contradicting himself a lot when it comes to the pels-76ers trade.

Do it Melo. Would be interested to see who else they get to go along with him. I assume Pau would be back in LA.

No it was some random euro guy IIRC.

Several, but ESPN doesn't put them on air. If Mel Kiper and Todd McShay can put together crap analysis on 400-500 players every year then why the hell can't Simmons do the same with 10-15 percent of that number?

Because that isn't his job. Guys like Chad Ford and Kevin Pelton do that type of stuff for ESPN.

Then why the hell was in on their draft coverage. He made a guy I'm usually indifferent towards (jalen rose) seem like the best analyst out there

Jalen Rose watches a ton a film? Jay Bilas doesn't know anything about the foreign players and little about the current NBA teams.
Holes all up in your logic

I feel like in the end this isn't going to happen, but damn it I'll try my hardest to be delusion and have hope.

I hate NBA draft analysis anyway. It's the worlds biggest crapshoot, I certainly don't need expert micro examinations of every guy when there's a good chance most of it is either irrelevant or incorrect.
I would much rather have guys just shooting the shite up there.

Come on guys... Lets not derail a great thread. I would never do anything like that
