I was not a fan of the trade. I think they set themselves back years. They simply don't have the firepower to win a series in the West. Gasol and Zebo have to both play out of their minds for 7 games to have a chance and I don't see that happening.

Two of the Grizzlies wins against the Warriors were when they had Rudy Gay.

You act like Rudy was some sort of superstar perennial All-Star, we are 9-2 since we traded him.

I wouldn't put too much stock into their two wins against the Lakers either.

lol ok. It's still the same team.

So like 2 years ago with no Rudy when they beat the number 1 seed Spurs and took the Thunder to 7 games?

Gotcha

This 8 game streak they are on is fool's gold. Only 2 winning teams during that stretch. One against the at the time slumping Warriors as I mentioned and the other against the inconsistent Nets.

So if they would have played the Lakers during that time it wouldn't have mattered since they are below .500? You think a sub 500 team is better than the team with the 5th best record in the NBA? Get real.

This is all kinds of stupid.

I watch a ton of basketball and have seen them play with their new squad a couple of times. Not a fan of the additions either. Tay Tay (was good in like 03') and Austin Daye both blow. Bayless can get hot at times. Conley is okay but the team is a whole lotta meh. We'll see what happens in the playoffs, but I see the writing on the wall and am very confident in this prediction. I'm going to make some good $$ fading this team.

You have vastly overrated Rudy Gay. He's shooting 40% on the year. His TS% for the year is 47%, and for his career is 52%. He's a scorer who can't score. The Grizzlies freed themselves from his chucking, and their w/l record since then is evidence of this.

bounced in the 1st round
They got bounced in the first round with him last season. Having him this season wouldn't have changed that.

You may be right, but Rudy Gay wasn't going to change this.

With Gay: Grizz > Warriors, Lakers
Without: Grizz < Warriors, Lakers

They have no shot at beating the top3 in the West but I felt like he put them over these teams. I don't put much stock into the regular season stats. Playoffs is a whole new type of game and they will miss him.

You are absolutely right.

Yeah, every team misses a player who takes 20 shots a game and only scores 20 points. How in the world will they make up that production?

exactly. it is a half-court slugfest and memphis has the most potent 4-5 combo in the league

he never carried them very far in the playoffs when he was there

Gizz have a brutal stretch of games starting March 12. Might see an indicator of how good this team really is.

I liked what I saw last year against the Clips.

If the playoffs started today they would play the Nuggets. You think that would be a half court slugfest? Denver would steal 1 of 2 on the road and run them out the gym in Denver.

I agree on the 1st round exit. Not enough offense. Not enough bench.
