Grizz-Thunder just match up well, too

except the Grizz have no one to guard Westbrook. but sometimes Westbrook does a good job of containing Westbrook so that may be a wash

Disagreed. Westbrook gets guarded by Tony Allen. They don't have anyone to matchup with Durant since the Rudy trade.

right, so tony allen shifts over to durant and leaves conley to check westbrook

ETA: i forgot about prince. he may be able to guard durant. i always like long guys smothering the ball so i may put prince on westbrook and allen on durant

Tony can't guard Durant because he gives up six inches in height. Hollins has tried it before. Prince could hopefully contain him.

Yeah I'd try to let Prince guard Durant and TA on Westbrook.

You can't really guard Westbrook 1v1 anyway because he's too fast. It's all about trapping/hedging him off that PnR with the big. Or giving him different looks all game so he doesn't get comfortable with his decision making.

I'm not sure Tony Allen is a good cover on Durant though. Durant's got over 6 inches on him. He'll just shoot over the top of him all game. Sure, Tony can be physical with him to deny him the ball, but I don't think it's a net plus. In the last MEM/OKC series, Battier was Durant's primary defender, I believe. I do think Prince can do as decent a job as you can hope for against Durant though.

i think you switch allen and prince throughout the game because of their defensive styles. prince is long and allen is physical so you switch them so durant and westbrook dont get comfortable with any one style

at least thats what i would do

Allen is physical enough to frustrate Westbrook. Its a good matchup.

In the last series between the G/T Durant took the triple OT game and the series over.

yeah, because he is the second best player in the world

"guarding" him as we're talking here is the difference between him going for 40 or him going for 30

It would be great for the league. It would show that two small market teams can compete for championships and force everyone else to step up their game. You act like it would be a nuclear bomb setting the NBA back 100s of years.

Sure, it would be great for small market teams, but the league would hate it.

No doubt

In that triple OT game he hit a shot at the top of the key to send the Thunder up by eight with less than a minute left. He turned to the silent Forum and screamed GAME OVER. I'm a Grizzlies fan and that was one of the tighest things I've ever witnessed.

i think he is also a once-in-a-generation type player. i think we're really blessed as bball fans to have him and lebron at the same time

i think kevin's killer instinct is more developed than LBJ's at this point but i think lebron is better because he impacts the game more wiht his all-around play

i think we have 5-8 years of grizz-heat and the heat have the upper hand now simply because lebron guards kevin better than kevin guards lebron. that can change over time, though

Agreed. The league as a whole is more talented than we've seen since I was little. It's great to watch this many superstars compete.

Considering that Lebron is one of the greatest defenders in NBA history it's really not surprising. Durant isn't too shabby himself

Grizzlies are the most overrated team in the NBA. People will understand how dumb that trade was when they get bounced in the 1st round. Mark my words. ESPN gives them so much love.

My personal Western Conference Power Rankings:

1. Thunder
2. Spurs
3. Clippers
4. Nuggets
5. Warriors
6. Lakers
7. Grizzlies
8. Jazz
9. Rockets
10.Mavs

lol. Your personal rankings are dumb.

The Grizzlies are 3-0 against the Warriors and 2-0 against the Lakers.

Two of the Grizzlies wins against the Warriors were when they had Rudy Gay. The other win against them was a home game when they hit the Warriors is the middle of a terrible slump. Warriors would take them out in a playoff series.

I wouldn't put too much stock into their two wins against the Lakers either. Lakers are playing some very solid basketball right now compared to the shitshow they put on the 1st half of the season. They will be dangerous when they enter the playoffs getting hot at the right time.
