I looked it up. You're right. It was third and 3.

After the game, first Clark and then Montana said that it wasn't a throw away and that Clark was the second planned option in the back of the end zone if Dallas covered Freddie Soliman, who was the primary receiver on the play.

But that's what they're supposed to say. It was either a stupendous play by both Montana and Clark or one of the luckiest plays in nfl history. We may never know the real truth.

LSU losing to UAB - I suffered through that entire abomination.

An interesting post. I always thought it was a planned pass, but in some of the views you see now, it makes it look like there's no way Montana could even see where he was throwing it.

(BTW, I grew up in Big D -- Dickinson, Texas.)

Not only that, the officials set off the substitution horn during the second free throw. Think about that, Collins had the concentration as they were setting off a loud horn. I bet money there's no way they would have let him take the free throw over had he missed. Which makes the end of the game even worse.
