Completely agree. But there is something in his isolation, having not said anything publicly, that speaks for itself. There are plenty of words in no words at all
But his entire career, he's been the most guarded athlete in interviews I've pretty much ever seen.

I would disagree with this. He has been more candid about his game and where he was, is, and wants to be than most other players. Even outside of interviews he has been outspoken about it. The only thing you can't really get information on is the events surrounding his wife and that debacle.

And you know what about me?
I feel like I know more about you from your comments in this thread, than you do about Tiger Woods' mental state.
His swing is almost completely different from where it was during the most dominant point of his career. He made major changes in his swing prior to his knee injury, much less the changes post-op.
Augusta National suits his game. Very scorable par 5's, less penal off the tees, and it puts a premium on scrambling. He almost won it as his very first competitive tournament post-Isleworth.
Yet, you're willing to bet he won't win another major because of his mental state now?
I hope by the time you can afford to back your assertions, you have gained the knowledge to realize you were wrong.

It amazes me that when he is playing well he never seems to have any injury problems. But let him get off to a bad start with no chance of winning and he comes up with some BS excuse to quit.

We don't KNOW shite. The sooner you realize that, the better off we'll be.
If Vegas would take an even money bet on your proposal, I would take off of work to fly there and make a considerable wager.
It is likely I would have to lay 10 times my money on such a thing, yet you would piss $100 even money on it.
Go play Beaver Creek four times instead.

How come when <insert player not named Tiger> wins a big tournament, most of the golf fans are quick to point out "Hey, it's just one tournament, don't overreact. The talent in professional golf is too deep for one person to dominate. Nobody will ever repeat what Tiger did from 2000-2002. If this guy wins one or two more majors in his career it will be a great career."
But when Tiger wins a tournament that he has now won 7 times (if he had to pick tournament to bet his life on, it would be this one, not the Masters), those same naysayers exclaim, "Tiger Woods is back. He's going to win between 20-25 majors." Yes, I heard that comment on the golf channel this morning.
Why the double standard?
do you really need this answered?

AGREED. But since he did this he seems to quit with some sort of minor injury when he is playing terrible. Just looks funny to most.

I think most pros would do that. However in the past Tiger never did, but being 36 and on the tail end of his career, I think he realizes that if he pulls out of a tourney instead of pushing through those minor nagging injuries, he will prolong his window of being able to win. Sort of like he just did.

But NO pro is under the spolight Tiger is after everything the last two or so years. And MOST pros aren't TIGER in general. I don't care how old he is. He set the bar SOOOOO High for himself with previous success, that he is in a no win situation. And YES it looks bad because of WHO HE IS.
Posted on 3/26/12 at 5:17 pm to dukke v
The reason pulling out of tournaments does not reflect well on Tiger is because he is always at +6 when he does it.
If he were in contention at an event and pull out, no one would question him. To my knowledge, this hasn't happened, and actually, as already stated, he played through a severe injury previously.

I agree with that, although I think Tiger really doesn't give a shite about anything anymore except winning to be honest. And if that means pulling out of a tourney, he'll do it, because he wants to play and win and prove people wrong.

He is trying VERY HARD to get his so-called IMAGE back. And yes its starts with winnng. To be honest I could care less about the products he pimps for. I don't buy shite off of advertizing by ANYONE on TV. If these people are so stupid to pay these athletes ALL that money, thats them. I can assure you I will never buy a BUICK just cause Tiger was pimpin it. Even back in 2000.

Yeah i've never understood that either, obviously there are plenty of dumbasses out there that its worth giving them huge money to put their logos on whatever

Would've love to get in on this thread. After barely getting through the first page I see that as not possible. This board astounds me sometimes.

I watch GOLF for the sport of it and everyone is talking about TIGER. He won a TOURNEY. SO what. At a course he plays ALL the time. BUT YES winning is important for him. This does NOT mean he is a shoo-in to win the Masters. YES its a course he is very familiar with. BUT there are gonna be at least 30 golfers in the field that have played Augusta just as many times as Tiger. Its called THE MASTERS for a reason. Think about it.
Posted on 3/26/12 at 6:49 pm to dukke v
Peej I'm going to have to differ with you on one point. Tiger's won 7 times at Bay Hill, but I don't think it's a course he's played much outside of the tournament. It's obviously a course that "fits his eye" because of the success he's had there.
The thing I'm impressed with about Tigers game now is the number of fairways and greens he's hitting. It's scary good. Sean Foley deserves a lot of credit.
Tiger knows the Augusta greens better than anyone in the field. If he gets the putter anywhere close to his tee to green game, look out. I like his chances.

This is a very dumb statement. You dont think others know the same things that Tiger knows? LOL. They all have pretty much the same yardage book and they all have knowledge of where the pins will be Thursday thru Sunday. Just dumb. Ive never played the course but have watched it for 20 years now and i can tell you exactly what each putt does and where the pins are.
