A girl I went to HS with, later a D-1 player, scored 52. The opposing team scored 49. Both class B schools.

Best individual scoring effort I saw in person was Wally Szczerbiak in the first round of the ‘99 tourney in the Superdome, 43 in the first round for Miami of Ohio. Had 24 in round two, and they advanced to the Sweet 16. Was there for both games, everyone was rooting for him, them.

I had to look it up and thought he had scored way more, but Harold Arceneaux, for Weber St. in their first round upset of UNC was a blast to watch, albeit I didn’t see that in person. He finished w/ 36.

George Hill dropped 50+ to beat my HS in the playoffs. We had Josh Mcroberts, so it was a pretty good game. The Indy metro area was insane with bball talent at the time, Greg Oden, Mike Conley, Courtney Lee, Jeff Teague, and other NBA players were all in the same conference and about the same age.

I think CJ in the PMAC vs. La Tech - 49 if I recall. The most I've seen in person I believe.

I was Dan Ruffin's assistant at Slidell High and watched Torris Bright drop 70 on Northshore High during Torris' senior season in 1999. Always wished John Brady wouldn't have handcuffed him so much.

I saw Ringgold massacre some north louisiana team. they had two 6 6 guys who could shoot from outside and make fts.
it was the first time I ever saw a high school guy pull up from 20+ on the break.
one had 30. one had 40. Mr 40 was solid too. tight end build.

I had seen Don Ohl pull up from 25+ for the Illini. he wasn't big.
later I saw kessinger for Ole Miss do it.

Twiggy Carter (Reserve Christian) dropped 73 on my sons high school team. They had 4 guys that went D1 on that team. My sons team ( class B) was eight white boys with the tallest being 5’11” They beat us by like 80 points. There coach full court pressed us the entire game. Well we had to go play them at baseball and they were horrible ,our team was state runner ups that year. Our basketball coach talked to the baseball team in the dugout that day and asked them to run it up. It was mostly the same boys from the basketball team anyway that played baseball. We ten run ruled them. It was 22-0 by the third inning. We was stealing every chance we got

High school:

In 1980, I saw 3A Marion,LA guard Bobby Joe Douglas score right at his senior average of 54 points a game. I can't remember how many he scored, but it was over 50. It was the ugliest high scoring game I've ever seen. He brought the ball down and shot every time Marion got the ball. If he missed his teammates would rebound, throw it out to him, and he'd shoot again. Pretty sure he shot under 30%. I was in school at ULM and Marion played another team on their schedule at Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The highest scorer I saw in person at an NBA game was Dirk against the Rockets when he had 53 and McGrady had 48. After the game you would have thought McGrady had one an NBA Championship, even though the Rockets lost to Dallas 113-106 in OT. He said it was like watching highlights he'd seen of Jordan and Dominique Wilkins going against each other. It was Dec. 2th 2004.
