I'm hearing that the dealerships are saying every deal was done by ncaa guidelines not that people here want to hear that

So I guess the university directed athletes to this guy and every ncaa protocol was enacted on every purchase. We'll see if they are telling the truth.

I'm guessing it was a zero dollar down payment as thadeus says he is still paying it off. Either that or they are committing tax fraud.

Public records show that in 2009, a 2-year-old Chrysler 300 with less than 20,000 miles was titled to then-sophomore linebacker Thaddeus Gibson. Documents show the purchase price as $0.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE MOVE ALONGGGGG

Once again it was Prolly a zero dollar down paymwnt. Very common practice.
He's still paying the car off. If he's lying that could be easily disproved

If it was 0 down payment then he must really have a good credit as a college student...which you don't think is weird?

YES in which you or your parents MUST have a good credit but the car is titled to him, not his parents

Not trying to defend anyone here, but is it hard to believe that players were offered cars with a zero down payment regardless of their credit or parent's credit? I'm assuming that it is the dealer's discretion.
And if that is the case, is that a violation?

I wouldn't think it's a violation. It said in the dispatch articles both dealerships contacted the Ohio State compliance official with all the details for every car purchase before they became final. If Doug Archie saw anything sketchy, he would have shot it down.

I guess it's under extra benefits
here you go

NCAA rules don't prohibit athletes from shopping at the same stores, eating at the same restaurants or buying cars at the same dealerships. The rules prohibit athletes and their relatives from receiving discounts that are not offered to the general public.

Yeah but that is a blurry definition as it applies to the 0% down. Its offered to the general public. Every member of the general public is eligible, its not an exclusive club type thing.
ETA:
Not saying its not a violation, but there is clearly room for interpretation there.

yes and when you go to talk to a dealership, they will check your credit history to see if you're qualified for 0 down.

I think the idea of him getting to be an NFL player would be good enough credit for a dealer. Whether that's a violation is up to the ncaa though that'd be tough to prove
