He also historically does not have a 4.8 ERA in the first half and has not been injured in the past. This season is uncharted waters for him.

I think Bourjos is completely expendable. I don't think he's going to be a future superstar. Your OF will be fine going forward. Replace Bourjos with a call up or FA signing.

I can agree with this for the most part. I do like his speed in the outfield though.

Bourjos for a reliever? Your thoughts?

Relief is a weak spot for the Angels but I'm not sure I would trade Bourjos. With Wells and Hunter on the decline (need help Dean--are they in the last year of their contracts?) you might not want to trade one of your future OF's.

Wells has two more years after this season on that massive contract of his.

The Rangers are in a real bind as far as making a deal.

Had they fallen apart this year they could have easily dealt Hamilton and Nathan to restock the minor league system.

But since they are most likely playoff contenders (even if the Angels surpass them, they should get one of the wildcard spots) they have nothing that they either can trade or that any team would want.

Probar can't go anywhere since Andrus will leave the team once his deal ends (all Boras clients do) and Probar is the heir apparent. Olt is probably due to replace Moreland at 1B. With Josh due to leave after this year Martin is probably the CF of the future, but can they afford to deal Snyder or Gentry given Josh and Nellie's injury records?

And none of the pitchers they've called up have been even mediocre. Scheppers, in fact, is an outright disaster (why he wasn't sent down instead of Perez is beyond me--must have new pics of Wash and Coke Kitty). Tateyama might get you low level prospects at best. They can't deal Ross (their most effective bullpen reliever) or Feliz (the former ROY has fallen way off, he's not effective starting or relieving).

With one of the top records in MLB they may not want to make any major moves. And with little in terms of trading assets (which they will need at the big league level in the next 1-2 years) they may have no choice.

Sorry, I meant to respond to Dean.

You have enough to worry about with the Astros. At least you have a nicer stadium than the Rangers.

We can just cut Wells. frick it. No salary cap.

Hunter has been and is more than serviceable for this year and possibly next.

As long as we get someone in return that is under contract for a couple years I would be ok losing Bourjos.

Which would be good if the Angels weren't contenders.

I just think losing Bourjos would be a long-term problem for your team (I really shouldn't care since the Angels' problems are to the Rangers' benefit but it does make for interesting discussion).

Then again CJ lost last night

Laugh at CJ but he still has a better ERA than anyone on your squad. Also you should be more worried about Yu and his escalating ERA once teams see him more than once. Also, you might want to compare your RF's stats to Hunters.

My guess is Dempster will be a Dodger by tomorrow.
