I love Yankee fans getting excited about acquiring someone who just isn't good at baseball.

.261 BA
4 HR
28 RBI
.288 OBP
.640 OPS

Damn, shite got real yesterday on just my ride home from work. I left work, nothing going on. I got to my house 15 minutes later and there were some big trades.

And what is Ryan Dempster waiting on?

No idea

I work at PNC, and he was out before the game in uniform with the guys during BP. He also was throwing a bull pen session prior to the game.

I figured he might want one last game/night with the guys he's battled with over the years.

Perhaps the trade gets down prior to tonight's game.

Maholm is pitching today against McDonald.

Dempster is scheduled to start tomorrow afternoon's contest as of now.

Garza's spot in the rotation will be skipped Friday due to tricep soreness, could hamper attempt to trade him.

Not sure that is the rotation piece I want them to add, but who knows.

Side note: can Dipoto trade with any team besides the Dbacks.

Nope. Still the same proposed deal with the Dodgers. Garza to the Dodgers for Lee and whatever else the Cubs want.

Garza's hurt, so that's hampering any trade talk right now.

EV off market.

Garza is not seriously hurt. At least that is how it appears.

He's hurt enough to miss a start right before the trade deadline when the Cubs would love to have him out there to showcase him.

Marlins are indeed beginning a fire sale.
quote:

The Miami Marlins are telling other clubs, “We are open for business.” And already, those clubs are calling Marlins officials, inquiring about trades for specific players.

Among the Marlins drawing interest, according to major-league sources: Third baseman Hanley Ramirez, first baseman Carlos Lee, right-handed starters Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco and left-handed reliever Randy Choate. The Marlins’ position is clear: They intend to make baseball trades, not simply dump salaries.

And the first of their moves came Monday, when they sent right-hander Anibal Sanchez and infielder Omar Infante to the Detroit Tigers for a package headed by right-hander Jacob Turner.

One source says the Marlins will “absolutely try and try hard” to move closer Heath Bell, but the team isn’t optimistic that such a move will happen.

According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, Ryan Dempster felt "blindsided" when word of a trade to the Braves was leaked to the media on Monday.

Dempster needs to get the frick over it. So what, the Braves were excited to be getting him, so they leaked the trade. Whoopty shite. So, now he's going to keep pitching for this shitty Cubs team instead of going to a contender because he's butthurt about not being the first to know?

And if Theo gets Zach Lee from the Dodgers for anything the Cubs have to offer, I'd be ecstatic. I still don't see it happening, but holding out hope.

He's heated up lately and will have some motivation to play with a decent team. I'm more excited about him from the defensive aspect of things.

He still plays above average defense, he is in a better line up and may produce better numbers, he isn't being asked to be a star but a role player, Yanks didn't give up much but a player claimed off waivers from Toronto and a 25 year old with a few appearances..... Why shouldn't it be viewed as a good trade? If he continues to suck then he is a defensive replacement/late game base runner
