Sounds like nobody knows exactly what the frick is going on, or who is going where.

The time is now for the Cubs and Chapman is an elite back end reliever. If the other guys are your #15 and #20 prospects they can be replaced in short order in the draft next year. Chapman is a game changer in October
Exactly, I don't know if the Cub fans are acting like this because they haven't been in this situation but like four times in the last 100 years or what.

I don't know who else is going over, but I don't care all that much about Torres being shipped off. We are talking about a 19 year old High-A shortstop in an organization with infield depth at the major league level. He is potential at this point.

It's okay to be somewhat skeptical on the trade, but don't act like you're getting trade raped for giving up a guy who is in Class-A ball and is in a positional log jam.
Huh? I didn't say we're getting trade raped. And I don't think anyone is saying that. I'm saying it's good for both teams. I responded to someone saying this is lopsided in favor of the Cubs.

Sherman: Neither Soler nor Baez in deal.

My mistake.
I'm likely just getting antsy as frick because the Rangers are fricking doing anything.

As an Astros fan I know how they feel, you get sold on your system being the lifeblood when you suck dick for a while and you become hesitant to give up prospects once you're a contender.
The thing I always tell myself (and Cub fans should do the same) is that the front office that built all that prospect depth isn't going anywhere. The Cubs will continue to draft and develop well and backfill whatever prospects they give up.

Just to reiterate:
quote:
Cubs president Theo Epstein is making it clear that rehabbing slugger Kyle Schwarber is not available for trade, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Exactly, as a Ranger fan I can tell you that it works. We've made plenty of deadline trades regarding highly touted prospects and we're fine, farm system wise.

Serious question...Can you even trade an injured player?

As long as the team getting him is okay with the physical I think you can. I remember Wheeler almost getting dealt last year when I'm pretty sure he was still hurt. As long as the team trading the injured player is up front with where he's at rehab wise and what the injury was I think that's what's important.

Yes, you just have to understand they would fail the physical

I'd take an injured Schwarber over some of the shitty healthy guys

He meant Candelario not Baez. Obviously Baez isn't in the deal either.

The price for Chapman will always be cheap [EDIT: I meant "steep" here] in this deal. But if the Cubs give up Torres (which is great value for NYY) and give up Warren (not really a big deal to me) and two fringe prospects at logjammed positions (think $20 analogy), this trade is kind of okay for the Cubs.
As long as the Cubs keep Soler, Schwarber, Happ, Cease, Jimenez off the table in this deal then it's a good trade. Cubs have the glut of position prospects.

And the yanks apparently chose Torres as the centerpiece over Eloy.
