Diaz >> Verdugo

This is going to be a mistake for LA.

it doesnt matter if he resigns and getting him in early and having him like the team and shite is the deciding factor. id make this deal every time if that happens

if he leaves or if he simply signs here because we paid him the most and he was always just gonna go where he ended up getting the most money...then yea this will be a pretty shite deal

if diaz is involved. would rather trade verdugo

diaz has had more power in the minors, which hasnt been great but its been more. also read that diaz grades out in the field better given hes faster and has more athleticism. but verdugo has a terrific arm. i like diaz more and i think hes the best outfielder in the system

Pretty much this. I think Verdugo is going to be able to hit for a pretty good average, but its going to be an empty average. I dont see him having that much power. Plus, I dont think he has a good body. A great arm wont do too much when you are below average in the field.

diaz will be a solid starter for a long time. his lack of power will probably keep him from becoming a multi all star or anything like that, but hes a guy you would love to have for what you will be paying him

I think the power comparison is negligible, but they are the same age and Verdugo has worked AAA pitching over for 2 years now. Im not even a huge Verdugo fan but I think at worse you have a solid regular every day player. Safer bet at this point.

the grades on Diaz's power have never been very good. Though the HR he hit in the futures game sure opened some eyes.

i think both will have a problem with their power. ive read some people think that verdugos power may eventually come simply because hes so great with his tools at the plate but ill believe it when i see it. i think it comes down to defense where diaz has the advantage. both are somewhat higher B level prospects. but not B+ because of their power issues. both probably should have 50 to 55 FV

So is Manny to L.A. unofficially official? Or could he still go to Philly?

It is the Orioles so who knows, but this seems done and may even be announced tonight after the game

#Dodgers increasingly likely to land Machado, sources tell The Athletic. Barring last-minute snag, several of interested teams expect that outcome

So if they resign him this off-season what happens? Move Turner to 2B with Seager expected to return.

I can report what you've likely already heard: The Dodgers are believed to be close on a deal for Manny Machado.

Ross Stripling was told the Dodgers may be acquiring a new shortstop.

"Does his name rhyme with Fanny Fachado?" Stripling said.

Going to assume the Phillies get Escobar, Cabrera, and Soria and make a run to the World Series cementing Kapler's status and one of the best managers in the game.
