Really doubt it...the starting rotation is atrocious. Will be a similar team to last year, maybe improve and flirt with .500.

For my surprise I'll go with the other Ohio team and say the Reds.

My Emergency NL Backup Team, the Diamondbacks. Honestly, they've shown they can pitch, hit for power, get on base, and play defense. They just need to do it all in the same season.

Webb gets healthy, Upton blossoms.... I think this is a really solid team in a very winnable division.

I'll say Marlins and Braves in the NL. AL...eh, not sure. Tampa Bay could make a comeback.

The team to beat in the NL is Philly, especially with Halladay.

Not while Dusty's in town.

I could see the Giants squeaking into the playoffs, and if they do, facing Lincecum and Cain in a series is gonna be hard to overcome.

Maybe.

If they allow their average 1-2 runs a game, are the Giants going to score 3?

Tampa won 84 games last year while the back of their rotation completely imploded. I don't really think they need to "come back". They are already there. The Rays are clearly one of the three best teams in the AL. It's just that all of the top three are in the same division. Someone is gonna lose out.

I agree with this.

Only reason I list Cleveland is because they have a lot of youth and some very good players who had down years.
It is asking a lot of some of these players to bounce back in a big way but if they do live up to their billing Cleveland could be in contention for the wild card late into the season. Obviously anything would be better than last year and I expect them to win 80 games this upcoming season.

there is no way the wild card comes out of the AL with 80 wins. You either win the division in the Central or you don't make the post season.

I think the Tigers will be pretty solid with their rotation and with the bullpen. Damon should also help.

With that much brainpower in New York you'd figure they'd come up with different cheers for the mets and jets.

Tiger in Detroit

Notice I did not say they would WIN the wild card, I said they would be in contention. They will be talked about in the Wild Card late in season as they may finish a few games back. Also if they are within striking distance of the AL Wild Card then they may have a shot at the AL Central.

MLB surprise teams this year

Well I'd say Cubs, but that wouldn't be a "surprise," so I'll go with the Rangers.
