That's actually the exact opposite of what a union should be. That is absolutely what modern unions are, but they should be about collective bargaining for irreplaceable skill

Well, that's the point. QBs do play everyday.
Plus, skenes has a losing record.

Toiling through the minors is awful

The minimum salary in MLB is less than that of the NHL, which plays 1/2 the games and generates far less money.

The minimum salary for an NHL player will be $775,000 for the 2024-2025 season

Technically true. 2% less

2% less in a far more profitable league.

Don't think it's fair to bring up the NHL union. The NHL almost died as a major sport when they shut down and lost a season in the 2000's. I still believe 3 things saved the league, Sydney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and the Chicago Blackhawks dynasty.
NHL is in a really good place now because the owners and the players both know they need each other. Case in point, the owners giving in on the players playing 4 Nations Tournament and the Olympics. Owners lost players to injuries in those tournaments, guaranteed money out of their pocket, but all realize the benefits outweigh those costs
