Wouldn't start cheering just yet. Depending on who they bring in there, they could certainly finish with a better record than if they kept D'Antoni.

Wait. Do you really think D'Antoni is/was the problem? Really?

Don't count on it. Not if they promote Mr. Potato Head like rumored.

If Melo forced him out then it's another example of what's wrong with the NBA, but D'Antoni was a shitty head coach anyway. His system will never come close to an NBA championship.

He ABSOLUTELY was part of the problem. His system did not fit the personnel, he didn't even bother trying to change that, & they certainly couldn't overcome it on the defensive end.

Don't see how it's Melo's fault. D'Antoni was already firmly on the hot seat when Melo was in Denver.

In all seriousness, I thought his system was perfect for everybody but Melo (I realize he's the "star"). IMO, Lin will not be as productive in the half court offense that Melo desires, b/c he won't have the ball in his hands. He'll be relegated to a spot up shooter waiting for passes from Melo. And it's not as if Staudamire (sp?) struggled in D'Antoni's open court style. All of this reeks of Melo's inability or unwillingness to adapt, now the entire team has to go away from what was working during their hot streak in order to accomadate Melo.

All with only 24 games left on the schedule. Seems like a stretch that they would see significant improvement. Are they going to commit to defense in a span of 30-40 days?

It worked for like two weeks against most crappy teams. It was a mirage.

Why not Rick Adelman? Of course he's set in Minn for the time being but Adelman and Phil Jackson are the two guys that come to mind who win where ever they go.

I realize he retired, but I guess try talking to Phil. He was on that 1973 Knicks team - the last Knicks team to even win the title. He'd love to be the guy who brought a championship back to NY. Then again he is old as hell.

Linsanity and D'Antoni going down in flames at the same time.

IMO, Melo's absence during that "mirage" isn't a coincidence.

so does this mean Lin will completely suck without D'Antoni?
