...but they did have a pretty decent discussion this morning comparing Texas' and Cincinnati's BCS resumes. Essentially, their conclusion was that Texas is in with a higher BCS ranking because of pre-season polls.
Here's the pre-season Coaches Poll:
USA Today Poll
RK TEAM RECORD PTS
1 Florida (53) 0-0 1466
2 Texas (4) 0-0 1386
3 Oklahoma (1) 0-0 1358
4 USC (1) 0-0 1321
5 Alabama 0-0 1134
6 Ohio State 0-0 1126
7 Virginia Tech 0-0 1020
8 Penn State 0-0 988
9 LSU 0-0 917
10 Mississippi 0-0 889
11 Oklahoma State 0-0 861
12 California 0-0 711
13 Georgia 0-0 707
14 Oregon 0-0 694
15 Georgia Tech 0-0 559
16 Boise State 0-0 542
17 TCU 0-0 461
18 Utah 0-0 404
19 Florida State 0-0 371
20 North Carolina 0-0 293
21 Iowa 0-0 257
22 Nebraska 0-0 236
23 Notre Dame 0-0 194
24 Brigham Young 0-0 178
25 Oregon State 0-0 165
Cincinnati was No. 29 of you go into the list of "other teams reciving votes."
By week 7, here's the Coaches Poll:
1 Florida (49) 6-0 1464
2 Alabama (9) 7-0 1398
3 Texas (1) 6-0 1386
4 USC 5-1 1237
5 Boise State 6-0 1153
6 Cincinnati 6-0 1104
7 TCU 6-0 1069
8 Iowa 7-0 1037
9 Miami (FL) 5-1 998
10 LSU 5-1 995
11 Penn State 6-1 894
12 Oklahoma State 5-1 795
13 Georgia Tech 6-1 779
14 Oregon 5-1 769
15 Virginia Tech 5-2 672
16 Brigham Young 6-1 577
17 Ohio State 5-2 481
17 Houston 5-1 421
19 Pittsburgh 6-1 328
20 Utah 5-1 300
21 Kansas 5-1 222
22 West Virginia 5-1 188
23 South Carolina 5-2 142
24 Texas Tech 5-2 132
25 Mississippi 4-2 114
And the 1st BCS rankings:
1 Florida 6-0
2 Alabama 7-0
3 Texas 6-0
4 Boise State 6-0
5 Cincinnati 6-0
6 Iowa 7-0
7 USC 5-1
8 TCU 6-0
9 LSU 5-1
10 Miami (FL) 5-1
11 Oregon 5-1
12 Georgia Tech 6-1
13 Penn State 6-1
14 Virginia Tech 5-2
15 Oklahoma State 5-1
16 Brigham Young 6-1
17 Houston 5-1
18 Utah 5-1
19 Ohio State 5-2
20 Pittsburgh 6-1
21 Wisconsin 5-2
22 Arizona 4-2
23 West Virginia 5-1
24 South Carolina 5-2
25 Kansas 5-1
This season, Cincinnati beat three (3) ranked teams, while Texas only beat two (2) ranked teams. Moreover, Cincinnati is actually No. 2 above Texas in the computer polls. It was the "human" polling that killed them (No. 4 in the final Harris and Coaches Polls).
Something to the theory.

Not really. Cincinatti could have been ranked #4 in the preaseason polls and still been left out. Texas being ranked ahead of them kept them out of the championship game. And whether the polls came out preaseason, week 6, or yesterday, Texas was always going to be ranked ahead of Cincinnati.

It was preseason polls + CFB bias

I think that's kind of the point. The nonsense that if you win you move up argument needs to be absolutely scrapped. Why more voters didn't even contemplate moving TCU or Cincy up after Texas' sham of a performance just goes to show that no one really thinks any of this through week by week. They vote on the preseason polls and then teams are dropped when they lose and the rest are bumped up; it's laughable at best.

I fail to understand why you drop after losing to a higher ranked opponent if the game is close.
After all if you are the #10 team in the nation and lose by 2 points to the #2 team, why do drop? Didn't the poll already implicitly state that you were going to lose to them by ranking you lower.

Those whole ranking system is bunk, and so is the Cincy/Texas argument.
Texas struggled offensively, as bad as Cincy struggled defensively. You can't say one was worse than the other, considering they both barely won their games.
Besides, the Big East is a joke. Pitt and WVU being ranked this year is unwarranted.

Why? Because you say so?
Texas- Cincy
Okie State- Pitt
Nebraska-WVU
OU- Rutgers
Texas Tech- Uconn
A&M - USF
Mizzou- Lousiville
KU- Syracuse
Now you tell me which one of those teams is winning a game out of the big east? One maybe, two would be a miracle.

What the frick are you smoking. Plus you are using a terrible way to match the two up. Lets drop all of the shitty teams in the Big XII then make the Big East play their worst teams. YAY
Here's more a logical way to do this
Texas - Cinci
Okie St - Pitt
Nebraska - WVU
OU - Rutgers
Texas A&M - UConn
Colorado - USF
Baylor - Louisville
Kansas - Syracuse
You take an average of the Big XII. Best 4 and worst 4 against the Big East's 8 teams
Out of that
Cinci
Pitt
WVU
OU
UConn
USF
Louisville
Kansas

the big east has 8 teams and everyone must play each other. teams dodge other hard opponents in the big12

Texas beats Cincy in a bowl. Neb beats WVU too

Hahaha!!!
Texas would mudhole Cincy in a bowl game. Like I said, Texas had a bad game offensively, but they still are better than Cincy in that dept. Add to the fact that Texas is number 3 in the country in defense, and you get a mudhole.
Pitt is a run first team that is lucky to be playing in the big east. Basically, they are Georgia, and we all saw what OSU did to Georgia this year. Give them a little credit.
Nebraska would kill WVU in a bowl game. They would be lucky to score, and we all know WVU doesn't play D. Let's get real here.

NU is not that good. they had 1 out of their arse game that everyone saw and people are jacking off to
this is a team that lost to VT

NU would probably have a better chance of winning games if they punted on 1st downs.

Pitt has a better QB and RB than UGA, and a better defense
and OSU had bryant (and got favorable calls)

they do, but they don't really have to with NU

Brown has been there before, I think Texas would be better prepared on the big stage than Cincy

As I said above they probably have a better chance to score off a safety, pick six, fumble return for TD, or a turnover that starts them in FG range than they do actually playing offense.
