This entire display has devolved to the point of utter ridiculousness. I don't care that he knelt for the national anthem, I don't care that he refrained from voting in the election however if he thinks that continuing to express these controversial positions publicly will help his case to extend his football career(since he opted out of his last year with San Fran for some reason) then the people representing/advising him need to be fired immediately.

you go out of your way on this forum to be "that different type"
you are actually upset about someone expressing themselves through protest, like how the country was started.

I guess Colin should have checked his football privilege before he started his little protests and realized he's not smart, charming, good looking, likable or talented enough for people to care and look past it. I have zero sympathy for his woes.

if you agree with Kap or not, defend his right to protest whatever he wants, he is dealing with the fall out.
Its bordering fascist when you disagree to the point of silencing the guy.
protest is great.

Has anyone said he doesn't have the right to protest? Or that he should be silenced?

Yes plenty of people, you just hearing about this story?

quote:

Colin Kaepernick’s national-anthem protest and quest to end racial inequality drew the wrath Sunday morning of ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer.

“The big thing that hit me through all this was this is a backup quarterback whose job is to be quiet, and sit in the shadows and get the starter ready to play Week 1,” Dilfer said on “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

Yes

quote:

It's almost as if such people.....WANT....to keep the waters of racial unrest churning away.

Hmm
.

so this logic says Kap should just ignore his beliefs because it perpetuates the myth of racism as if it doesnt exist anymore. which is bullshite.

my problem with Kap is this, he is doing great work in the community, thats how you show your protest.
You cant have it both ways, you want to protest unjust police killings of blacks, but you also need address places like Chicago and New Orleans, where fricking 11 year old honor students are getting killed in cross fire of gang shootings, etc. Thats just as unjust as a cop pulling the trigger and a major issue that "activist" love to ignore, which is as bad as the other side ignoring a few trigger happy police.

Quote people saying he has no right.

ETA you edited, but that isn't anyone telling him he doesn't have the right. That's someone explaining what teams expect from their backup QB.

SS's comments about OJ are completely retarded

OJ did the exact opposite. before the murders he spent so much time being above being black and as soon as the reality of his situation sank in (and likely at the guidance of Johnny Cochran), his team promoted him as the black icon

if you watch that ESPN doc on it you can literally see his white friends defending him...until most had to eventually admit they thought he did it. plus, like you said, all the abuse incidents with Nicole came to light

nobody is silencing the guy. he just doesn't get to play pro football, which 99.999999% of football players fail to get to do

he can set up a youtube account today and get his message out as much as he wants

quote:

protest is great.

well for Tbird, that protest directly attacked him b/c Tbird is in the military

kneeling for the anthem is a direct "frick you" to him, so he's allowed to react negatively to Kap's protest, just as Kap's allowed to protest. both can face the consequences within their industry for their respective actions

The irony here is astounding.
so he is mad because he protested the anthem and the flag, which the military is sworn to defend the rights of a country built on free speech and peaceful protest.
got it.
didnt know Kap said f the military too.

doing what he did was attention whore stuff

he could have kept/stated his beliefs and just not purposefully amplified them to get all the attention for it

remember this stupidity?

they didn't get in trouble for this

but Kap couldn't settle for being part of a group collaboration or doing something accepted. he had to do something groundbreaking where the spotlight would be on him. well he got it. now he has to live with the response

i agree

i don't mind the BLM stance on black killings but the problem is they are huge attention whores and HOW they go about their bullshite is just infuriating. now i get that's the point, because their argument alone isn't worthy of the attention they seek, BUT, it detracts from their message to a large degree
