Dabo has said on a few occasions after the game that when he realized Auburn wasn't going to move the ball on our defense that they decided to play conservative on offense and just play field position. I don't know if that was just coach speak, but it turned out to be correct.

Auburn has a heck of a defense if anything else. With that being the second game, we just wanted the W and move on. The last several Clemson-Auburn games have been really close and this was not different.

I've kind of become a fan of Clemson in recent years. LSU for life of course but I find myself pulling for Clemson to do well. I just really liked deshaun Watson. Watching him cry after the NC was great. Dabo had me onboard after his "clemsoning" rant. Good guy.

Last week on the SECr I said something like that about Saban knowing he didn't need to put up 30 on LSU because LSU couldn't score and was told it was bullcrap and no team would do that

It's hard to post anything on SeC Rant without being attacked if your are not one of the SEC SEC schools...LOL

I am a Bama fan, and I would definitely put Clemson at #1 right now. Clemson and OU look like the most complete teams so far.

I think Venables will get some run at the TAMU HC job

I've heard that aTm will make a run at Justin Fuente. He would be an excellent hire for aTm and someone who LSU really should have given stronger consideration to.

Seems like Dabo has them to that Saban point where they don't need great QB play.

I know it's early and Watson will forever be a legend at Clemson but...Interestingly all of Bryant's passing stats (QB rating, completion %, yds/att, interceptions, etc) in the first 3 games are better than Watson's 3 games the previous 2016 and 2015 seasons. Probably can be attributed to safe play calling but the all around competition this year is better than the previous year's.

I didn't mean that as a knock on Bryant and those stats do surprise me. Y'all might even be better than the past 2 years and don't need a superstar QB.

We still have a lot of football left before we start talking about the best teams. After three weeks we are certainly getting a better idea of the what teams are real and what teams are pretenders.

Clemson in my opinion is the best team in the country right now. Their defense has dominated and Bryant has done a good job stepping in the QB position. As of right now, I don't see another offense on Clemson's schedule that could outplay Clemson's defense. I could see FSU and maybe VT's defense possible slowing Clemson's offense like Auburn did but their defense will give them the ability to win a game without having to score 21+ points.
Clemson has won two games in a row against top 15 teams and that is the reason why they should be number one in the polls. As you said, there is a lot of football to go and a lot can change over the course of the season but there is no denying that Clemson is proving to be the best team in the country.
