Usually, leaked Wonderlic scores are embarrassingly low. Not so, however, for Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy, who nearly aced the test, scoring a 48 out of a possible 50 according to his hometown Fort Worth Star-Telegram. That score puts him on the high, high end of potential employees in any field, and especially among NFL quarterbacks. A 48 is twice the league average for incoming QBs, and matches the highest score for a quarterback on record, belonging to current Buffalo Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, a Harvard grad. (Only one other starter last year, the 49ers' Alex Smith, managed a 40 on the test; only one NFL player former Bengals punter Pat McInally – another Harvard grad – is believed to have scored a perfect fifty.)

I hope he pans out in the NFL, at least as a decent backup.

He graduated in 2.5 years from Bama and was a Rhodes Scholar finalist. Clearly a very impressive guy, but I don't see him staying in the league (as a player) for too long.

I'll take a QB that goes undefeated and wins a national title in his first year as a starter any day.

How different are his numbers from Matt Flynn's championship year? I'd imagine they are pretty comparable. Some noodle arms make it in the league.

Please show me where I said he's the greatest QB ever? I just don't think he's a "shitty QB"

As a Quarterback on my team, if I had one. Not at all am I saying he's great or the best quarterback in the draft or anything like that but I don't at think he's shitty. He is kind of a douche though

With what pick and over who? McElroy is a good college QB for certain teams. He's obviously a smart kid, and he is decently talented for an SEC QB, but if you put inferior athletes around him where he truly has to make plays on a consistent basis, I'd bet good money that he would blow hard. He has played on superior programs his entire career, and the one year where his team wasn't that great (2007 Bama) he didn't play at all. Has he ever been thrown into a remotely adverse situation as a starter?
