the problem with benching Eli last week was that the Giants are completely out of the playoff picture, and they benched him for Geno Smith. Geno Smith is not the future of the franchise. You don't bench a guy that brought you 2 super bowls unless you're preparing for the future. The Giants were not

They bench Eli for a guy they knows sucks. They know they'll bring in who they really want, Davis Webb, later. Having him replace Eli would put all kinds of pressure on him and might hamper his development.

Having a scapegoat coach and GM bench Eli for geno and then fire him gives the image of cleaning house and now spag can replace garbage Geno with Webb and start fresh without the pressure on Webb.

4D chess.

Talk about waving a white flag. Spags’ head coaching record is abysmal.

It’s 4D chess if people believe things happened that way.

I’m fairly certain people can read between the lines and see the Maras gave the order.

Yeah I'm saying it was their plan to move on from Eli, but they used McAdoo to do it and now put the blame on him.

How long before ESPN drives the narrative that Jerry Reese was fired because he is black?

this guy wanted to get fired more badly than George costanza. he should've rigged the lombardis to his car and dragged them around the parking lot

Maybe he should have invited LT and some underaged hookers to the office to do coke.

Just a minute, this guy was in the playoffs last season. How the frick do you fire a coach in Year 2 after he made the playoffs in his first year? And it wasn't one of those bullshite 8-8 playoff appearances. He went 11-5 after the Giants failed to have a winning season in the previous three years. And now he's gone? Ridiculous.

He clearly lost the team, badly.

Even despite injuries to players like OBJ, he had a lot of problems getting effort out of the remaining players. I think just about all their DBs ended up in the doghouse at some point over various bullshite.

That is what normally happens. I watch this morning a discussion about Tom Brady screaming at his OC get turned into a race issue. Both of whom are white.

Agreed. The Giants were 0-5 when all their WRs went down.

While looking into the Giants’ 2018 cap situation, I found that Eli has a no trade clause.

That has potential for an interesting game of chicken as Eli will clearly try to steer himself to a good situation where QB is a need such as Jax, Denver, or potentially New Orleans If Brees walks.

Most teams with a QB need are so bad, like Cleveland, that he would force a cut to negotiate as a FA rather than allow a trade.
