Competing isn't exactly intertwined with choking, IMO.
call it what you will, but its not hard to for someone to see getting blown out against teams seen as equal as choking

Even if this is the case, they have still won more series as the lower seed than they have lost as the higher seed. So they aren't really losing more series than they are winning.
And I don't think seeds 2-8 in the West are as close as most people think. Yes, they are closer to being on the same level than the East, but I still wouldn't call them on the same level.
Last year was the biggest exception, when all 8 teams won over 50 games.

well i said 3-8...over the last 10 years, the only really powerhouse teams are LA and San Antonio.
they have some pretty embarassing series losses in dirk era to teams like Golden State, obviously. Denver, New Orleans, and a pretty good Sacremento team.
with all that being said, im not sure you know exactly how playoff seeding works.

I know how it works, just didn't take the time to figure everyone's record each season. Would have been too much work for me.
And San Antonio and Los Angeles have absolutely dominated the Western Conference over the last 12 years. It's amazing.

i havent checked either, just pointing out that dallas essentially could have more wins and been a lower seed than some of the teams you cited as being better because they were higher seeds.

Yep, meaning they would have had home-court. And since Dallas is in the same division as San Antonio, it may have happened once or twice.
Just figured things would about even out on both sides, but maybe not.
