The new school pays the buyout and the coach almost certainly gets a raise.
The same will be true when players become contracted employees.

They sign a yearly contract. It’s called a scholarship.
And they can break it with no penalty to themselves or the school that is getting them in the portal. They used to have to sit out a year but now they don't have to do that.

You can’t transfer in season, so again, you’re wrong. Once the season ends you’ve fulfilled your obligation.

Correct, which was totally unfair. Player had to sit out a year if they wanted to leave, but the school could not renew the scholarship for the next season with no penalty

This will hopefully change.

And all will be set right once these players are made employees and sign multi-year contracts with the school they choose to attend.
If another school wants them before their contract ends they will have to buy out that contract prior to that player being able to transfer. Thereby making their arrangement equitable to those of their coaches. Problem solved. I'm glad you see it my way.

This might be Army's last game of the season today. The fact that they have been relegated to a bowl game against a 5-7 Marshall team after the season they had is downright criminal, however.
You need to edit this shite. Marshall was 10-3, not 5-7.

I really believe contracts are coming. Rich people don’t like giving away money only to have it be wasted. People like Gordon are going to insist on contracts and you can’t blame them.
I would guarantee you they already do. Its a contract between two private parties. NIL deals must be disclosed to the school, but as long as very basic rules are being met, they cant force or cancel a deal. The only rules are it cant be tied into playing a sport, specific performance in a sport, or attendance at a specific school. That's it, So, Gordon simply requires the kid to be in BR on set dates and times to meet his NIL obligation. Money can be deferred, it can be contingent on any circumstance imaginable except those listed above. There is also nothing that prevents him from stating the kid must return all money if he fails to meet the rules of the deal.
