Both are expected to play 3rd as of now.

Alex is 24......Manny is 26

2018 stats: Machado 188H/37HR/107RBI/.297AVG
Bregman 170H/31HR/103RBI/.286AVG

Who will be the better player for the next 10 years?

Is this for real? Bregman wont be making 30 million for another 4 years at least. And hes arguably already better. Give me that one please

I was talking performance wise. Sorry for the confusion. I have edited the OP.

Bregman. Don’t get me wrong Machado is great and some of the team cancer stuff is overblown but if I’m a GM and I have to choose essentially two players of equal production and one is “Johnny hustle” and loves baseball and the other is a really good paycheck player then I go Johnny hustle.

Production is basically equal. Machado has done it a little longer but Bregmans season last year is arguably better than any of Machados individual seasons.

Cause you’ll get some truthful answers with these Houston homers. They are both great but Machado is better at this point.

I mean Alex has been better in both of the last two years and his 2018 was better than any year by both wrc+ and war than any season Machado has had. It’s not a homer thing. Machado has just done it for longer.

I’m a Houston fan so it’s tough to remove my bias. I think Machado’s ceiling is probably higher, but Bregman also just put up a 7.5 win season at age 24 so it’s tough to put that limit on him. The age is pretty important and Bregman is the type of player I see being really good still at age 32-34 because of his approach and work ethic. I would take Bregman but it’s extremely close.

If they have similar stats at the plate, even with Machado being a bit better, I take bregman because of his fielding. It's insane

Machado has been known to play third base pretty well

I may be biased but I’m going with Bregman. It’s unbelievable what he has been able to accomplish since being with the Astros. Machado is good and all but he’s one of those guys who only cares about the money. Bregman just loves to play baseball and is determined to be the best and always works and adjusts to be the best. Of course things may change for Bregman in a few years when it’s time for a new contract and more money but if I’m a GM and am looking at these 2 guys to be the future 3B of my franchise, then I go with Bregman all day long

Its not biased if its the truth which is funny to see the downvotes from stros haters/lsu haters rain down on me.

Both baseball reference and fangraphs give bregman a higher war. Park adjusted stats such as OPS+ and wRC+ give Bregman a better 2018 than any season of Machados and hes younger.

Bregman is a winner and plays the game to win. Machado cleats someone on his way down to 1st base because he allows emotion to get the better of him.

I would expect machado to be better for the next decade. The longer track record provides more stability imo
