The only conference I would put them ahead is the Pac10 - but even they had a strong bowl season.

Really?

You'd have the PAC-10 and MWC behind the Big East, ACC, and Big 10?

There is not a legit argument. Utah won all their games including a sound victory in a BCS game.

I gave a legit reason. And I have been a Utah fan proponent all year

I've never given a blowjob to a computer but I've been considering it for quite some time now. How did it feel for you?

Utah had a great season. They aren't the best team in the country, and they won't win the AP. It's a non-issue

I agree with this, and I will go as far as to say that USC or Texas have a better chance of a split. But I don't think either will, especially if the championship game is won by more than 14 points. I think 2003 was the last time we will see a split. mainly because you will never see another team not win their conference and play for the crystal ball.

nobody has a chance at a split. If UT destroyed OSU by 50 or so and OU won a very sloppy game, then maybe

really the only way to have a split is for a team to be #1 in the AP before the bowls and not be in the title game

I don't think anyone deservers or has a chance either, I was just making an argument for if there was one.

Or be #2, win big and have the #1 team lose to #3 in a non-convincing manner.

I generally have little respect for the "overrated" chant that you hear when an underdog wins. It tends to degrade the team that's winning, if you think about it. But it seems undeniable to me that Alabama was the most overrated team, by the pollsters, in a long, long time.

I think nobody really believed that they were that good, but what were they supposed to do when they kept winning?

Alabama got exposed and the strength of Bama's offense was taken away due to injury and suspension. Utah wants no part of USC or Florida.

Common Opponents

OU and Utah both played TCU

Utah 13 - TCU 10
OU 35 - TCU 10

UF and Utah both played Bama

Utah 31 - Bama 17 (strong 1st quarter)
UF 31 - Bama 20 (strong 4th quarter)

Notables for OU (rankings are at time of game)
No. 16 Kansas W 45-31
Nebraska W 62-28
at Texas A&M W 66-28
No. 2 Texas Tech W 65-21
at No. 12 Oklahoma State W 61-41
vs. No. 20 Missouri* W 62-21

Notables for UF (rankings are at time of game)
No. 4 LSU W 51-21
vs. No. 6 Georgia* W 49-10
No. 25 South Carolina W 56-6
at No. 20 Florida State W 45-15
vs. No. 1 Alabama* W 31-20

Notables for Utah
No. 14 Brigham Young W 48-24
Oregon State W 31-28

When you compare the season I think you take the middle half SEC, ACC, PAC-10, Big 12 and Big Ten teams and they all go undefeated with the Utah regular season schedule.

The only thing Utah deserves is a nice banner that says 13-0.

Utah deserves to be in the discussion as the only undefeated. Let's be honest, had any BCS conference team gone undefeated with an identically difficult schedule, they would be in the NC game.

Utah played an easier schedule than OU/UF, but their loss comes close to negating that advantage. Utah beat Bama worse than UF did and beat TCU by less than OU...we are splitting hairs.

Its a tough call and I could go either way. The OBJECTIVE computers gave OU/UF the edge and that is one legit argument why Utah shouldn't get a NC

You left off Oregon State. And that ranking of the time of the game is misleading. LSU, South Carolina, and most of those other teams weren't quite as good as advertised

thats the issue though, no BCS school has a schedule like that.

14 pts vs 11 pts, one field goal

and that is why I like the computers and the use of SOS

gah your right, adding them

So if Boise State had scored two points more in their bowl game they should have got a split too?

BS. Utah played 4 ranked teams this year (2 top 10). I guarantee you I can find you schools in the BigEast and maybe Big10 with similar schedules

Those same computers had Utah above USC, PSU, and Bama (before the bowls). I have a feeling you would be on there side had they made the BCSNC
