MLB rule changes official.

Pitch clock and banning the shift passed despite unanimous disapproval from the players.

Bigger bases passes.

No new pick-off rules in place.

ETA: Pick-off rules are buried in with the pitch timer. shite. My bad.

Good. One thing they got right.

The pitch clock is dumb.

Nobody is going to watch baseball because games are 10-15 min shorter on average. Even 30 min shorter if accomplished on average isn’t going to magically make the sport more popular.

MLB has been a joke for decades now.

Teams gross revenue are higher than other teams payroll. Absolutely pathetic.

I dont expect that to end anytime soon.

But the runner can’t just take off to 2nd after the second pickoff attempt. The pitcher can still step off and throw him out.

Major MLB rule changes for 2023 by AtlantaLSUfanThank goodness the shift is finally gone, but the pitch clock takes more time to enforce than just letting the guy throw a second or two late. Hopefully the have a grace period and they aren’t stopping the game every time a guy goes over 14.9 seconds.

Ian Happ does a podcast with some buddies of his who are still in the minors where they use the pitch clock.

They hated it at first and whined about all the new rules but now they are all on board. Players don't like the long games any more than fans in fact listening to them they dislike them even more.

They said the first month will be rough and players will rebel - like Sherzer did with umps checking pitchers early on - but eventually they will adjust and will end up liking it because it will and does shorten games and cuts out all the BS needless delays.
