Madison Prep is a (select) school that voted for the split and they actually won

state today. That's a pathetic vote there. Riverside coach with a parting shot reminding people he isn't the one running from further competition.

Madison Prep isn't a private school.

"1. Only four private schools voted for the split to be deepened
Basile, Calvary Baptist, Madison Prep and Sacred Heart were the only Select schools to vote for the split in baseball, softball and basketball as well as football. Interestingly enough, those four schools come from some of the most defined areas of the state (Lafayette, Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans."

I was with BB03 in thinking they weren't private. Whoops.

It is a select school, yes.

Nope, they're the ultimate "get to be what you want" school and they can play all angles to any select vs. non-select argument. They are not a private school. But they are private in that they get to bring in whoever they want whenever they want.
How they do it is beyond me. In 10 years, they will not be messing around in A and AA ball.

Was going by the article in the Advertiser but yes select is the more correct description.

Riverside coach Timmy Byrd on #LHSAA hoops split: "I'm glad that I'm on the side that isn't discriminating and not running from competition"

Of course Byrd's arse would have sour grapes after a loss.
Always been a sore loser.
ETA: Though I do agree with Riverside's vote, not a proper time to bring it up after your team just lost.

Yeah but I would bet they asked him a question about not playing again in the future.

Easy to say when you have 5X the talent on the floor as 90% of your opponents. Looks like he wasn't able to outcoach an opponent with similar talent.

Can't like this enough. Riverside is one the BIGGEST REASONS a non-football split passed.

The Riverside coach is a hypocrite.
Also, the ideal game would be for Madison Prep and Lafayette Christian play next year (if LCA has the balls and numbers to move up) and play a game that goes into 22 overtimes where both lose.
LCA beat MP already this year but both programs are the basketball versions of the 1990's and early 2000's football Evangels, Calvarys, and JC's.
BUT Riverside's coach, again, is butt-hurt. He made it to the state championship two years in a row with similar types of shade. Riverside was a former LISA school until 1988. Their whole reason for being was to keep the blacks from Reserve and LaPlace away, while attracting the likes of whites from Baton Rouge to Boutte. Their entire lineup and first 3 off the bench are "brothers". You tell me what's going on.
Prep...3 years ago, they were a joke save the basketball program, which was still behind the likes of CLA and Lab. Now, they have a state caliber football program as well...bet you a dollar that they end up a baseball juggernaut also. Whatever they are doing, they're playing both sides of the fence to obtain any athlete they want, while remaining "private".

Literally have no idea how that game was 41-33.
How does a team with Crowfield and McGee on it score 33 points? They've hit over 20 threes in a game this season.

Timmy can stfu. After Curtis & Evangel, he's one of the biggest reasons there is a split.
We used to play his Reserve Christian teams when I was in high school, and the school had 20 boys in the entire school. All the boys played basketball, 5 guys were over 6'5, they had Tweety Carter at pg, and they just so happened to get two exchange students from Europe that were 6'9 & 6'10. I bet those kids were there for the education and weren't recruited to play basketball at all
