I guess that's Georgetown practicing against each other. They looked horrible, no wonder they finished eighth in the Big East. He's not going to be able to do that against good Big East teams. He shoots well. I saw one uncontested dunk and a couple of layups that should have been blocked or a charge taken. We'll see how it goes.

Nope.
Well how did you become such an "expert" on basketball?

That's a fair assessment, unlike others.

But I think Georgetown's signing class this year was in the top 30.

I just don't think Patrick Ewing as a Head Coach is going to work. I could be wrong and will eat crow if he's successful, but I just don't see it happening. It seems to never work when you bring back a star player to coach an alma matter. I don't think Penny Hardaway at Memphis will succeed either.

This whole thread you've been nothing but a douchebag from your first post bashing the kid.

Most normal non-douchebag people see his highlights and are impressed by his abilities, but you're just a hater. I guess seeing others accomplish their dreams and goals upset a loser like you.

I agree with this. I think they made the choice because he probably pursued it heavily and they felt obligated to give him a shot.

He may do very well in recruiting by using his stature as an NBA great, but that will only get them so far.

Not at all. I wish him the best. I'm just poking fun at you because (a) you found out about him like a week ago and now you're an expert, (b) you never seen anything but highlights, and (c) you're extremely defensive for some reason.

So, since I was recently made aware of him and watched about 10 different videos, I can't have an opinion of him?

Should I watch his freshman and sophomore HS highlights before I decide if he's good or not?

I watched "highlights" of several whole games. They show mostly "made baskets" for both teams or defensive "highlights". Some of these videos are 12 minutes or longer. Sorry if I don't have time to watch a whole game, which isn't even available.

If I'm defensive, it's because you've been a fricking a-hole this whole thread, acting like I'm some kind of fanboi because I think the kid is a great baller.

Like I said, just frick off.

Mac is a good shooter and shoots from a high point of his jump. He will be able to get shots off on taller defenders.

He needs to be a lock down defender in his own right though, because taller wing men are going over the top of him all day.

He'll be a solid player in college I think. This formula works in college even for short players:

Great athlete + good shooter + good attitude = solid player

Yeah, most of the videos are offensive highlights, but they usually include the blocked shots around the rim.

Saw a video of him and others at a practice for the Kenner League doing one-on-one defensive drills and he blocked a couple of jumps shots from guys his size or similar. They all had problems stopping each other from what I watched.

Must be incredibly difficult to stop good ball handlers who can drive by you to the basket, and try to defend their jumpshot.

This would have been you years ago regarding Steph Curry. "Dude is a scrub. Short, skinny, overrated. Yeah, he has a nice outside shot, but he'll be flipping burgers for a living after a forgettable college career."

That was everyone regarding Curry. He was 160 pounds and Virginia Tech, his father's alma mater, would only offer him as a walk-on.

Also, while Curry could still finish at the rim, his skill as a shooter was insane. He wasn't getting by on athleticism.

This kid looks very good against his competition, but high flying dunks aren't likely to come as easy a the next level.

I had seen some of the older clips but this one was also fun to watch. One of the cool things about basketball is that is forces you to adjust your game when you get to each new competitive level. I've seen many comments in this thread predicting whether he'll be able to do it or not. IMO, only time will tell and it's not as much about the physical attributes.
