Some teams put their best sprinter on that second leg, the trick is get the stick early and hand off late, giving that stud more of the relay.

One thing I’ve never understood about relay races, is that if the whole time is what matters, why does it matter which order your runners go in? They are all still doing one lap around the track

In HS and college you'll have hurdlers and long jumpers out there, rarely do these schools have 4 stud sprinters. Hell, hurdlers Jerry Tarr Oregon, Earl McCullouch USC lead off world record teams.

You want your two fastest cats on that second leg straight and on anchor to bring it home, never running your studs around a curve.

At the world class level and national teams most these guys have a pet leg they excell on and have a ton of experience at. Justin Gatlin has that second leg down, while Jon Drummond was known for his start, yep...lead off. Shawn Crawford a great 200m man he excells on that third leg with that turn.

That great Canadian team..

Robert Esmie to Glenroy Gilbert (LSU) to Bruny Surin to Donovan Bailey, all born in the Caribbean.

Can someone create OP his own separate blog or site for his 3-4 dumb threads per day?

I was thinking of something like www.avantethoughts.gov.www\avantethoughts

It works like this...

You check out the threads, find a few that interest you so ya ckick on and get involved. What ya don't do is enter threads that don't interest you to be a pest, ok? You had to be told that?

You never see me in others threads being a pest, if a thread isn't for me I'm not there. And, most my threads get plenty of action so...????

Let's check out your last one, be right back.

Went back 11 pages, you don;t have anything. So you are a follower.

You currently have 8 of the 11 posts in this thread and one and one of those other posts is simply remarking at how terrible your threads are.

Do this since you are so worried about it, actually take a few minutes and check out my threads see how they do.

How do you do?

Seems like the weep and moaners never do anything themselves, they just leech off everyone else.

Except for 2008 and 2009 when Jamaica ran peak Bolt on the third leg.

Dumb idea, you want your fastest guys to be able to deal in straights not curves, simply common sense.

Look at his splits on anchor vs that third leg split,see the difference?

I’m well aware of the difference. Their top 3 performances aren’t because they had Bolt on anchor, they’re because they ran Yohan Blake who wasn’t available in 08-09.

Your statement was

never running your studs around a curve.

Yet 2008-9 Bolt was the stud of all studs. Probably would run 9.4x in these new spikes. And still his coaches put him on the curve.

Sounds like you need to get out and touch grass more often.

Matt Wells is the former head coach at Texas Tech.

At Texas Tech, one of their chants is "Raider Power!"

There is a thread about Matt Wells on the front page of the MSB.

And all the track world was.....what???

Bolt to run third leg in relay final
By Reuters Staff

1 MIN READ

BEIJING (Reuters) - Double Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt will run the third leg of the 4x100 meters relay final for Jamaica later on Friday.

Bolt, who set world records in winning the 100 and 200 meters individual finals, will hand over to former world record holder Asafa Powell for the final leg.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It got head lines.
You don't run your fastest sprinter on a curve, it's stupid.
What happened there was Asafa Powell sucked on the relay, all he really could do is anchor or leadoff.
Getting the stick and handing off not his thing.
