the buildup to this game is bigger. While OSU/UM is the biggest rivalry in sports, LSU/Bama is just such an enormous matchup for a variety of reasons

Crazy gambling, grass eating, retard clapping coach? check

Best Coach in College Football? check

Both winners of recent BCS titles? check

One coach used to be the coach of the other team? check

Best 3 defensive players in college football on the same field? check

crazy special teams antics...expect it

OSU/UM buildup doesn't even touch this one

Oh c'mon; you're missing most of the hype requirements in your list.

Called Game of the Century?

- "Game of the Century," the first 1 vs. 2 matchup in this storied rivalry, was played a day after the death of feisty former Michigan coach Bo Schembechler." LSU/Bama hasn't been given that moniker. Check

Crazy large crowd?

A crowd of 105,708. Check

Historical anticipation?

- "The anticipation for this showdown of unbeatens had been building for more than a month, when it became apparent that only a huge upset would keep the Big Ten rivals from entering the game with perfect records for first time since 1973." Check

Last game for both teams? Check.

Objectively which game was bigger?
.

Thats pretty subjective.

The OSU v UM game was more hyped since they are who they are and ESPN is who it is.

We'll find out this question next week.

I guess I'm the only putz that figured the winner of OSU/Michigan would lose to the SEC champ.

I think there were quite a lot of us that realized 2006 was an overrated #1 vs #2 matchup.

The SEC was very strong in 2006 and the Big 10 was weak as usual.

That certainly doesn't mean ESPN didn't hype that game as much as this one, because they certainly did. I just think the major difference is the majority of fans would consider the winner of this game to be the de facto national champion rather than the SEC's bitch.

This is why this game loses its luster for me. I knew Ohio State would get their doors blown of if they played any competition and same goes for Michigan. The Big 10 was that year what it is every year, weak. That just so happened to be the time others around the country started realizing it. UF and USC showed how weak they were. These teams are so much better then those teams that it makes the game bigger in my eyes and the hype bigger starting next week. I was bored watching the OSU/Michigan game because nobody could stop anyone. It was pitiful to see the lack of defense from to apparently amazing teams.

Prob tOSU-UM

That game GUARANTEED a spot in the NC. This one, not so much

Not to mention, it's freaking Ohio State and Michigan

Nope. I got laughed out of the room for saying Florida would shite blast them, and it got worse when TG brought back the opening kickoff...then things just got hilarious

LSU/Bama has zero national appeal the majority of those times. UM/OSU has been touted as one of, if not the best, college rivalries. Add into that #1 vs #2 and a guaranteed spot in the title game? The game was awesome too.

Michigan sucking after that game really tarnished it IMO. They went on a losing streak that continued into the next year versus App St.

That program still hasn't recovered.

Surprisingly though they did beat Florida in their bowl game the next year, which to this day still surprises the shite out of me.

Chad Hennepin, mike hart and Jake long...that was a pathetic job by Lloyd Carr that year. He'll always be an overrated tool IMO, thanks for backstabbing Les...worked out quite well for LSU.

History has proven those SEC tards to be right. OSU got the shite kicked out of them in 2 straight title games and both OSU and Michigan are in the shitter, while the SEC has won 5 straight national titles

The amount of revisionist history in your posts is quite amusing. None of that had happened in late november 2006 when the game in question was played.

What you are is a putz that is rewriting history using your 20/20 hindsight. USC was #2 after the OSU-UM game. They had games against Notre Dame, who 10-1 at the time and UCLA who was 6-5. USC beat ND by 20. I would sooner believe you had a bridge to sell me in Brooklyn than that you "knew" USC was going to lose to UCLA.

OSU/UM

Best rivalry in college football (at least at that time)

1 vs. 2

Winner secured a NCG spot

Bo died the day before

Heisman front runner was playing

Even though I'm an OSU alum, don't know how you could argue otherwise.
