USC, Clemson, Florida, and Ohio State round out the rest of the top 5.

39 - Alabama, LSU
37 - USC
35 - Clemson, Florida, Ohio State
34 - FSU, Miami
30 - Georgia, Oklahoma
28 - Cal, Notre Dame
27 - UCLA
26 - Auburn
25 - Michigan, Texas
24 - Wisconsin
23 - Penn State, Stanford, Utah

Cal is represented surprisingly well, as is Utah.

NFL Active Roster Breakdown

Shamless LSU plug - LSU has been tops in the NFL since 2014 with 42 players in 2016, 40 in 2015, and 38 in 2014. They currently have 1 player suspended, 5 players on IR, and 6 more players on practice squads. Those 51 players top USC and Florida who have 45 each on rosters. Unfortunately there is little hardware to show for it over the last 10 years.

Utah I sort of get with the Samoans and what not, but Cal being in the top 12 was a bit of a shocker.

Damn, looked right over Cal.

Cal has..

2 linebackers
5 WRs
3 DEs
3 RBs
2 TEs
1 punter
2 safeties
3 QBs
2 long snappers
2 centers
1 DT
2 OTs
1 place kicker

Pretty good balance.

LSU and Florida have exactly 0 QBs on NFL rosters in any capacity, which helps explain their lack of achievements despite elite talent.

Cal's recruiting lately has been decent, if you don't buy too much into recruiting service * value and just look at how players pan out.

I would not be shocked at all if Cal beat Ole Miss on Saturday.

Ole Miss reminds me of an area football team this year.

We're only 3 point favorites, traveling across the country and we have no defense. I'm not expecting a W.

1 NC
2 BCS CG
2 SEC titles

That's better than most think, it's just that Saban and Alabama are skewing things thanks to their ridiculous run. You will also note Bama (tied for most active players) is in our division and has the best coach of this era at least if not all time.

You do realize that the NFL players from LSU weren't all on the roster the last 5 years? Pleased note I do agree we underachieved since 2012 or so, but it's more telling to go year by year. I guarantee there were more NFL players on the team in 2007, 2010 and 2011 than other years.

Dude.

Ole Miss is far from home with a freshman QB(he's the man) and no defense.

Nobody would be shocked

Let me give a little ray of hope to the Rebel Black Bear faithful: Cal struggled mightily to top Weber State last week.

I didn't even know what Weber's mascot was, and I love CF.
