I guess they are about equidistant from San Jose. but San Fran and Oakland are closer together than they are to San Jose.

UW won the National Championship in 1991. Not a pro sport, but I would still consider it a major sports deal for the city. Seattle has been voted the most miserable sports city for the past two years though.

Never knew that -- they must have been the first "major league" team on the west coast (LA briefly had an NFL franchise in the '20s)

They had never played a game in LA due to the travel issues, though... so I doubt anyone in LA actually gave a shite.
