Every steal, I die a little inside. This whole pitching + defense = wins, doesn't work that great when the defense is shitty, the pitching needs to get in a grove, and our catchers couldn't throw a crippled old man out. At least Ells is coming back sometime next week.

Thats a joke, right? I know Wakefield pitches slow, but Martinez has been garbage all the half of the year last year and early this year. Teams have been doing this all the time on us, even with Martinez back there.

Psh, I've heard so many things on ESPN and ESPN radio about the red sox sucking. Btw, lets see how good your outfield defense is when you're putting 4th and 5th guys out there. Our infield (minus catcher) is probably the best defense in the league.

Okay. Blame them both, but blame Wakefield more. In the last 5 years, he leads the Majors in stolen bases against and it's not by a tiny amount. And, that long predates Martinez with the Sox.

Varitek is great at blocking pitches and still calls fantastic games for the youngsters, but he hasn't exactly been I-Rod the last three years either. Joe Madden has been stealing like crazy on the Sox since he's been there.

I know, but then again, he throws a freaking knuckleball, of course people are going to run wild on him. I'm just saying Martinez's bat current doesn't make up for allowing any single into a triple.

Wake almost always had his "own guy" just because it was easier to have one catcher practice catching it and nothing else. They don't even have to do signs, because 99% of the pitches are knuckles.
