Maybe. They released a statement that said they were playing up when they could have moved down to 4A

Correct. Same as Rummel, they could play down. Why is De Lasalle scared of the Catholic league?

What’s Chalmette scared of?

We were only in the Catholic League because of segregation… we threw away a lot of wins for 20 years.

I do believe that among every nonselect school in the state, we’ve played the most games against select schools ever

Fun fact: us, Belle Chasse, and if you want to count South Plaquemines and Phoenix, are the only nonselect schools on the South shore

De La Salle had to come back to barely beat a terrible Holy Cross team (well c-sushi thinks they’re terrible because he poo poohs me when I say they’re good, just in a district with 6 better teams). They’re in the right division.

It’s a fact. No one in Orleans or Jefferson parishes is nonselect

Which is 100% NOT a FACT

Why didnt you include St Charles, Lafourche, St James or St John?

Here’s the point.

Let’s say there are 100 difference makers in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St Bernard. (Hypothetical) They’re spread out over 20 different select schools (there are actually 43 different select schools but not all have a difference maker) and Chalmette and Belle Chasse who are nonselect. Select schools have 96 of them, Chalmette has 2, and Belle Chasse has 2. (Didn’t count South Plaquemines because they’re so far away from New Orleans)

Some of those difference maker kids will get knocked out of the playoffs by each other early. Meanwhile, going to the Dome in nonselect counts just as much as going in select, and some of those difference makers may like their odds better by going to Chalmette or Belle Chasse (and they’ll make it happen to go there). That 96-4 split may become 90-10, with the 10 basically at 2 schools. If it becomes 80-20, that’s a wrap for the rest of the state. They better hope Chalmette and Belle Chasse are on the same side of the bracket.

(Remember, John Curtís was built on taking the path of least resistance to a championship. The split changed the calculus for a lot of schools. The new split, maybe even more so)

When is the last time Chalmette has won anything in any sport? I’m curious.

#3 right now in girls volleyball behind Dominican and Mount Carmel. Our girls sports won a bunch of championships back in the day when they were Andrew Jackson. Mitchell Robinson made the semifinals with our name on his jersey

Why I said it was a hypothetical. Of course I’m hoping that’s how the next decade or so plays out. We don’t know how the expanded split has changed things yet

St John and St Charles are just as much South Shore if not more than St Benard and Plaquemines are.

That’s the point.

But for some reason you’re afraid to include them in your “South Shore” assessment.

Every St Charles and St John school is closer to Orleans and Jefferson than any St Benard and Plaquemines Parish Schools.

Um…. This is completely wrong unless I’m missing something

I think the disconnect here is that nobody around here considers the schools you’re talking about as ‘south shore’

I told you examples of us winning and apparently I don’t think it would count to you unless it was a football state championship. Yes. I know. We don’t have one. 8 district championships, semifinals in 68, 10-0 in 03, but none state. 18 district championships in baseball and three runner ups, but no titles.
