we definitely had one just up 35 this week…
then BOTH coaches agreed to it and suggested it to crew. If both coaches request it - it's a GO.

A key difference with the have nots now a days. They generally have fewer coaches and are poorly coached(if they even played tackle football prior to HS - this is all WORSE since COVID) and struggle to line up with many function/admin fouls(illegal formations, ineligible downfield, delay of game, false start, encroachment, equipment violations and of course many of these teams have low numbers and have MANY cramp stoppages - heck I am aware of two teams that actually ran out of water this week). Nothing good comes from dragging these games out as they are powder kegs.

FWIW go back 10-15 years there weren't nearly as many 42 plus point games and even then those have nots committed far less "function" fouls - every foul adds time to the game every cramped player generally adds 2 minutes to the game.

The rise in "function" fouls could also be attributed to the COVID affect on many kids that is affecting them in every thing else - struggling mighty with following instruction, rules, discipline, acountability and interaction among other things.

Back then offenses weren’t as high powered… every school now has a kid who can throw…

I’m kind of lucky that I don’t have to see my team play the worst of the worst unlike some…

Zachary is unranked and 4A now?

Zachary is transitioning, as a school and especially as a city. Another 10 years and they will be just another Baker.

The canary in the coal mine was the baseball team.
