Only 15% of public school transfers go to private schools.

That is all students, for any reason. A more honest argument would be to discuss:

1: % of athlete transfers
2: % of transfers that went on to play college sports

One of my nephew's friends transferred to a Catholic school 40 miles away this year. He happens to be a Methodist. And a prodigy baseball player. OBTW they also hired his grandfather as an assistant baseball coach.

So he wants to go play for his grandfather? Sounds like a great reason to transfer. Would you cry if a coaches kid followed his dad to a school? You probably would.

Chicken or egg. Did they hire the grandfather to get him or the other way around?

Well you seem to have the issue with it, so why don't you tell us then prove it?

What does it matter if the schools that Hodges "represents" voted for or against the split? He is a principal and only has one vote for his school just like everyone else who he "represents." His opinion on what is best for his school does not have to match other places.

Well if he's acting in his role as a member of the executive committee and is supposed to represent a large amount of schools, I can see how going against the wishes of the majority could be an issue.

Soooo - which public schools are joining the new 60 school association? The river parishes - nope. The Northshore - nope. BR- nope. Cajun Country- nope. LC- nope. Alexandria or North La - no and no. So who are these mysterious public schools that you refer to. I'm just curious. I would call bullshite immediately it I would prefer to see your list first.

A non Catholic decides to commute to an out of town Catholic school. And it's not for the academics, he's an average student and it's an average school. Nothing to see here.

You're right. There is nothing to see here. Average student chooses to go to a private institution which is his right. If he does commute 40 miles, he will have to sit out a calendar year before he plays. Is that not sufficient for you?

It's 60 including the privates. Not 60 publics.

And it doesn't matter who Hodges's represents, everybody he represents has the same voting power as him

I didn't say it was 60 public schools. I just wanted to see a list of these supposed public schools joining the new association. I doubt there are a half dozen statewide, and that is a generous estimate IMO.

I believe that Live Oak is public. I'm still waiting to see a list of the public schools bailing on the LHSAA. There is also the assumption that ALL private schools are going to leave as well. I just don't see that happening either. It will be mainly be NOLA/BR metro private schools that join with another dozen or so schools from the rest of the state combined if I had to guess.

Then it shouldn't be hard to separate the relevant data.
