Iv seen Mayers at STA. His stuff is brutal

Didn't have offers at the time. A ex-major league catcher caught him and said he has a MLB arm. Called couple schools and the coaches said they had their signing class. Heard he is now committed to Nichols. He seems like a good kid. He was always encouraging my son even though he was 4 years younger.

Swing and a miss to end the game. St. Amant with a huge Game 1 victory over Barbe, 7-4 final.

Gonna be tough for Z to win 2 tomorrow. Anyone know how Wesr Fel did versus Sterlington tonight?

Bryce Fontenot with 3HR's and 5RBI's. That's impressive and even more so for a sophomore.

Yes. Moran is shorter.

I assume Moran pitches game 2. Who's supposed to be on the mound for Barbe?

Well I’m wondering if they’re gonna save Moran for Game 3, with a 1-0 series lead.

I was at the STA/Dutchtown game he lost. He just destroyed the first 4 batters. It was one of the strongest 4-batter runs I've ever seen. But Monceaux was the next hitter and took him out the park, and the whole team just deflated. They went from total confidence to oh shite on one pitch. When he is confident he can't be beat.

A lot of coaches say whoever wins game 2 wins the series. You have your foot on Barbe's throat. You can't give them hope.

But it's a sound strategy. He could get a huge rest if they win. Or they could bring him in relief for an inning.

Yeah it sure did deflate him. Gave up lots of walks that game, and Mayers did as well if I remember correctly.

Moran had to close out the game last night, prolly threw 20 pitches, but he did the same thing last weekend. Closed out game 1, and started game 2. Like you said, he’s pretty hard to beat when he’s on and confident. The energy he has on that mound is insane, and he wants the baseball in his hands.

Isn’t Gavin Guidry Barbe’s ace? He didn’t pitch last night, but I imagine he’ll be who they go to in Game 2. Don’t they have another pitcher as well, who’s going to LSU?

I hear he's not 100 percent. But I'm sure they'll see him.

Wouldn't the other guy have pitched last night? Who pitched last night?

I don’t agree with saving your #2 for game 3. That strategy is playing with a losing mindset from the get go IMO. You pitch him to avoid that game 3.

Yeah, then I had Mayers this year early on… Brandon let me know that when he’s on, his stuff is unhittable … well he was on that night and his stuff was WICKED.

I missed pregame intros, so I don’t know his name, but it was a right hander, #24. He was pretty good. Pitched the whole game.

Agreed. Last weekend, they went Mayers Game 1, then Moran Game 2, after Moran threw 5 innings in the first round, then closed out Game 1. I’m sure that’s what they’re gonna do.
