I'm fine with the current rules.

There was a lot of chatter for a shot clock last year after St. Thomas More beat Calvary Baptist.

Madison Prep and Liberty play some low-scoring games.

They pride themselves on defense.

Madison Prep and Shaw played to a 39-28 game two years ago in the semifinals? Both teams shot poorly, but both were patient.

I do several ball games for radio for the parish. You barely have people who can work and pay attention the game to run a scoreboard/game clock. Then add the requirement of a constant shot clock reset. Would be a clusterF at some places.

I can vouch for this as well. I do radio for our area (and sit at the scorers table) and there are places i go that are a complete disaster. If i can keep track of points, fouls, etc, all while doing play-by-play better than the person at the table then we got problems

But I'm totally in favor of a shot clock. Even 45 seconds to a minute is fine with me.

clean I have been in situations where we won games we probably should not have because of the four corners offense.

I have also coached games where spreading the floor and holding the ball and forcing them to come out to guard us at half court blew up in our face and cost us the game. it is all part of strategy.

I dont think changing the rules for everybody to address a handful of teams that play a very deliberate and slow style is a good idea.

We need to acknowledge the difference between holding the ball at half court and forcing the defense to come out to guard you versus teams that run spread offenses and are very deliberate with their shot selection.

Either way.. a team shouldn’t hold the ball for more than a minute without a shot.

Thats ridiculous

I don’t think you understood what I meant. What I don’t like is what I said. Passing the ball around the perimeter and never penetrating and just chucking up 3’s. That’s not a good offense at any level of basketball. I didn’t say I dislike the 5 out offense. I have no problem with the Princeton offense. What I have a problem with is shooting threes every time down the court without ever trying to get to the goal, and that’s something you are seeing more and more of.

if you have ever been to an AAU or select basketball tourney using a shot clock, you know that a shot clock makes what you just described even worse because of the sense of urgency the clock creates

it’s more exciting for the fans to have both teams taking a lot of shots, but I dont think it is better basketball

That’s not how that works.

I think we are talking about different things and making it all one thing

stalling is one thing

being patient and deliberate is a totally different thing

most of the complaints are about stalling, although some teams take patience on offense to the extreme
