Gerald didn't get pub the Nique but as far as an all around player Gerald was better. The only highlights of Nique's career was the slam dunk contest. Gerald would put a clamp on anyone he guarded and Gerald's game was smoother. Nique was all dunks.

amazingly, nique was all dunks. but he scored over 21,000 pts.
But Lebron can't score because in the 80s you couldn't just dunk on people.

Actually, Dominique had zero rings because he never once played with an all star caliber player along side him.

Mookie Blaylock might have made an All-Star team with him. I'm not sure. I don't think Kevin Willis learned how to score until he left. Doc Rivers, Stacey Augmon, Reggie Theus, old-arse Moses Malone--these are the guys Dominique spent his prime years with. And Jon Koncac. fricking Jon Koncac. Although I don't blame him for the Hawks whiffing on that. I blame whoever it was the decided to take him over Karl Malone in that draft. I used to fantasize about how good a team with those 2 guys in their primes would have been. Got to think they would have gotten themselves at least 1 ring.

And I agree with Karma--'Nique was one of the best players of the 80s without question, and one of the best of all time. He could take a game over as well as anybody I've ever seen. He was hurt by playing in the same division as Jordan and that loaded Cavs team, his lackluster supporting cast, and the way his career just faded so fast after he tore his Achilles. He had another 4-5 really good years left probably. Especially since he was refining his game as more of a shooter and didn't rely on his ridiculous hops as much to get him to the basket constantly. It was sad to see him bounce around the league with the Clippers, Spurs, Celtics, and Europe in the end. Oh what could have been.

I think he still finished his career like 9th all-time in scoring. Probably would have been a lot higher were it not for that injury.

I actually messed it up. He's scored more than 26,000 pts only on dunks that Lebron James couldn't have gotten because the 80s and 90s you couldn't just dunk on everyone.

If Michael is indeed the greatest of all time, then Wilt is second and I don't know if Lebron will crack that.

Jordan was physically stronger than most NBA big men at the time.

Well that's not saying much. Jordan was 2 to 3 inches taller than most of the guards in the NBA in the 80's and early 90's. I still think Jordan would win...he has a post game and quick enough to stay in front of Lebron. Once Jordan gets in front of him, it won't matter how well Lebron can dunk, he'll have to rely on his mid-range jump shot.

What does being taller than guards have to do with being stronger than big men?

This thread is crazy after reading all the way through. One on one vs 5 on 5 is apples and oranges. Guys that would be great at one on one at this level are the guys that can go to the basket and score on anyone. Fade away jump shots? if you are doing a lot of that in a one on one game against another player that is going to be that good at basketball, you are going to lose.

Because, starting with MJ's position, people were not as strong, on average, in the 80's NBA as they are now. Plus, Lebron has his HGH he's been taking since he was 14.

But at the end of the day, Lebron has NO POSTGAME and having a POSTGAME is the most important aspect of one on one. Have none of you ever watched two players go at it one on one before? Sure Lebron is taller, but that doesn't mean jack if he can't play with his back to the basket.

Hence, Jordan wins.
