Harrahs has been planning this since 2019 yet sports betting still isn't legalized. 2022 seems like the key date for legalization at least.
If they don't pass it next month, then they won't have another opportunity until 2023 or within a special session.
Off-topic, if it gets denied, it'll be because John Georges and his greed ruined it again with his video poker establishments. Too many hands in the cookie jar

That's the problem. It is legal. It was voted on legally by the people and passed. The state however refused to honor the wishes of the people immediately to instead get their dirty hands all over the money as usual.

No it wasn't
I think you may be getting fantasy sports and sports wagering confused. Fantasy sports was voted on in 2018 (referendum) and will not be legalized until the Fall of 2021.
Sports Wagering was never voted on until the 2020 election and it was like fantasy sports a referendum. Which means nothing to the La Legistlature. Ask Karen Peterson.
Neither of these are legal currently in the state.

Lauberge is owned by Penn gaming.
If I had to guess the sportsbook will be a barstool sportsbook and you better believe Dave and the crew will be coming down here for big games

Hopefully this time they did a better job lining the pockets of Bible thumping hypocritical politicians in North LA
North LA had nothing to do with causing it to fail in 2019. It was a few Senators/Representatives (Cameron Henry) from Metairie and John Georges that caused it to fail.
They had enough votes even with the few in North Louisiana that voted no. Those in the casino establishment areas had disagreement

The people said yes. Government has no reason to interfere with it. Casinos already pay their taxes and are heavily monitored. They could have written a one page bill to immediately instate sports betting and they could legislate it further on their own wasted time of per diem gathering.

They did that in Detroit when their app went live. Hopefully, anyone who gets sports gaming eventually has it online. It's absolutely incredible having all these bets at your fingertips and not having to mess with brick and mortar anymore.

They voted for a referendum which means nothing. It isn't even a law. They get voted on all the time and nothing comes from it.

You have no idea how taxatation or anything of this actually works.

Louisiana being so slow and so behind Mississippi in getting this done is so embarrassing and sad.
The state legislature is a bunch of useless clowns.

Tex had some shite go down that wasn’t on camera, straight up disappeared for a few weeks because he was having legit mental issues. Part of that is from Dave and Big Cat just whiffing on warning signs and continuing to push him for content
They are doing the same with Rico. It’s not a bit, he’s got legitimate paranoia and anger issues and they just continue to push that button. It’s not going to end well

Louisiana seems to be pretty good at not paying attention to the will of the people.
