It's his non shooting hand and he is really a ball handler, so we will see how it goes.

This makes no sense. The Trailblazers just have to stay ahead of OKC for home court. A healthy Aldridge is a must for the playoffs. By delaying it, he is missing the chance to use the All-Star break for recovery. His missed games will be higher if he ends up having the surgery anyway.

Probably a situation like Kobe a few years ago where it won't get any worse structurally by playing, just hurt like hell.

Do post players really have non-shooting hands? Obviously they have dominant hands but most can finish with either hand.

Zach Lowe tweeted that he gets a 250k bonus for making the All Star team. Hmmmm

Someone has clearly never watched Aldridge play. He has a great mid range jumper. Think Dirk Nowitzki. He's that type of player.

He's already been selected to the team, so I'm sure he gets that bonus money either way.

Yeah. If an agent screwed this up, I would fire him on the spot. Seems like an easy clause.

I don't think the reserves have been announced yet

That might be the answer. Aldridge might be saying he's coming back until reserves are announced. Then he'll get his bonus and have surgery.

Plus he apparently decided on it after shooting around with his splint on, so maybe he wants to give it a go with the splint. If he is ineffective with it he can just shut it down.

No... no, as an NBA fan I've watched Aldridge play most of his career including his time at Texas. NBA players utilize both hands when finishing at the rim. While his midrange jumper is his go to move, an injured off hand still limits him to some degree offensively.
