Frontrunner on day 1/pre-season is usually determined by how he performed in the previous season.

Idc if USC gets in trouble or not. But are y'all saying that they investigated themselves and found nothing bad enough to get in trouble? Even though JM was getting paid?

In regards to a story reported by the Los Angeles Times that former USC football player Joe McKnight and former men's basketball player Davon Jefferson received gifts from a person in the Los Angeles County assessor's office, USC Athletic Director Pat Haden released this statement.
"When allegations regarding Joe McKnight's use of a Land Rover arose in 2009, USC fully investigated the matter. All of the information related to the investigation was sent to the NCAA. The NCAA staff accepted the report, and no violation was processed.
"We have just learned of new allegations presented by a reporter from the Los Angeles Times. We have discussed those allegations with the NCAA and PAC-12, and we will thoroughly investigate them and take any and all necessary actions.
"Since my 2010 appointment as USC's Athletic Director, in conjunction with USC President Max Nikias and Dave Roberts, our Vice President for Athletic Compliance, we have diligently worked to enhance a culture of compliance throughout the Athletic Department and the University. We have been a national leader in athletic compliance matters, holding national conferences on issues impacting intercollegiate athletics such as agents, non-scholastic football 7 on 7 competition, high-profile student-athletes and other issues. These events were attended by representatives of the NCAA, Pac-12, professional sports leagues, collegiate conferences and Division I institutions. We have increased the staff in our Office of Athletic Compliance and we will continue to stress and emphasize rules education and compliance to all of our constituents, including our student-athletes and their relatives, coaches and University staff, alumni, boosters and the media. Just last week, as the fall sports season kicked off, Dave Roberts and I met again with our football team and staff to discuss and emphasize the importance of these rules and the need to be ever-vigilant in fulfilling our compliance obligations. Similar meetings will be held with all of our athletic teams this fall.
"I can personally assure you that USC takes its compliance obligations with NCAA and Pac-12 rules extremely seriously and we are dedicated to playing and competing the right way."
To the USC tards saying this was already investigated even your AD is saying these are NEW allegations.

The NCAA isn't gonna let you just sit a guy for a meaningless bowl game, and consider it an acceptable penalty. Haha, that made me laugh.
This was first reported right before the emerald bowl so SC sat him while they investigated it. If there are now new allegations they will again investigate and we'll see what happens. I fail to see what exactly was so funny about what I said. Please point out what I said that was so wrong?

According to someone who just posted, the AD said these are new allegations

Big whoopy doo. College player gets paid. Sure that rover made him a better player or made his meals from the dining hall taste better.
A good friend of mine told me had he accepted LSU's football scholarship to him he "would have gotten a car" or at least a deal on it.

No. That was about McKnight using the car. This is about him getting over $35,000 in cash. Big big difference between the two infractions. I really like USC and the way they play/ed (especially under Carroll), but the arrogance of the USC fans I knew while living out there made them insufferable.

School officials said they "fully investigated the matter" at the time and turned their findings over to the NCAA. The disciplinary body "accepted the report, and no violation was processed," according to Haden's statement.
Understand what is being quoted. USC is the one that investigated and based on what the University presented to the NCAA, no further action was taken by the NCAA, in 2009.
HUGE Difference here. Now, according to the LA Times, there is something much more significant than what was presented the 1st time to the NCAA.
Either USC did a piss poor job of investigating and monitoring the situation (LOIC again) or they blatantly lied and did not tell the whole truth. Also, the previous investigation was limited to the Land Rover. The TIMES article goes way, way, deeper. This is about an ongoing relationship with a guy that evidently paid JMcK $Tens of Thousands as a "supporter of the program"
Spin it any way you want, keep your head in the sand, or whatever. This is NOT good for USC - in no way shape or form. If you read the article closely, this was discovered as part of the investigation into the Tax Assessor's office. That means there will be depositions, subpoenas, and the like that the NCAA did not previously have at their disposal.
Just my opinion, but $hit about to get real..... I suspect Charles Robinson will be on a plane to South Cali in the not too distant future.

Is USC still on probation for the last time they cheated?
Posted on 9/1/12 at 4:51 pm to Radiojones
USC is on probation for the reggie bush case

so, in other words, you really hope nothing comes of these new allegations because you know USC will be fricked hard
