I completely agree.

That's why he should do just that instead of throwing the tantrums.

well, you know, it's not like kobe hasn't refused to shoot in a critical playoff game solely to show up his teammates to show them how inferior they are to him

Lots of people either forgot about that, don't know that happened, or choose to completely ignore that instance.

Well in Kobe's defense, he says, "well If we move the ball around, I get blamed for not taking over, AND we get blown out."

This is why I had no respect for Kobe 2 years ago. It's like he was deferring just to make a point. Would Jordan, Bird, Russell, Kareem, etc. ever sacrifice a win just to prove a point? Talk about arrogant. If this is still his attitude, then the Jordan comparisons should stop.

I think what critics are saying is working within the offense. I'm sure that's what Phil would love him to do.

He can't help it. It's in his nature to act like a spoiled bitch. God, I hope LA loses.

It doesn't matter what his attitude is, the comparisons should stop.

I love how he has to take shots immediately in a possession when he's on and then bitches at his teammates when they are out of rhythm. You can still get those shots after moving the ball around. He forced the issue shooting quickly and then having them running back on defense within seconds.

It's great he scored points and all, but it killed team form.

Kobe has great skills, but didn't give it all on defense like a champion should. I understand he tried to get his teammates involved early, but you can't completely take them out of the game and then get pissed when they end up not able to get back in on a moments notice.

Kobe lost this game as much as his teammates with HOW he played.

His teammates have to play better defense, or offense... or hell, ideally, both. They played solid defense in the first half, but they didn't do shite on the offensive end. And by the third quarter they weren't even playing solid D. It was Kobe shoot a bunch to keep them competitive or roll over and lose by 30+ in fricking Game 5.

Yeah, Kobe shouldn't get all the blame. His teamates were pathetic tonight. Starting to look like 2 years ago.

I agree that Kobe is the best, and yes I agree he acts crazy towards his teammates. But I think the reason is, which has already been said, that he has the want to win SOOO badly, he takes it out on his teammates when they do something wrong. Its a positive and negative. It could light a fire under their arse but it would also cause them to lose confidence in themselves.

Yea, i agree big time.

Just for my own personal opinion on his legacy, 2 sick games and 2 wins from Kobe will vault him up a lot higher than I have him now.

But if he plays like he did in games 2 and 3, it won't necessarily drop him, but it'll further my belief that he's not quite on the level that lots of people put him at.

people won't even know what to do if kobe loses and there's no single star to pick out on teh celtics

PR is so targeted to hype an individual they largely forget about championship teams like the spurs and pistons if there's no single dominant player to overhype

I hate the Lakers, but I'll give Kobe his credit. The guys has been amazing. In the past I would say that he was for sure a shitty team mate and a "me" guy, but now he wants to win SO bad, really more than anyone. He's demanding of his teammates and he should be. I have a ton of respect for him and in my mind there's only MJ and maybe magic in front of him in terms of greatest perimeter player ever.

My only problem with him is his depressed state during press conferences after the game. He can come off as a sore loser, but I can't knock him for being so competitive.

ETA: This commercial is so bad-arse it's not even funny:

How do you know this? Did it just kick in or something?

See the game 7 a few years ago vs Phoenix.

The Lakers were losing and he made it clear that it wasn't his fault. He stopped trying. There were times when Shaq was there that he wasn't aggressive just to prove a point.

He also wasn't regarded as the best player in the league back then. He hasn't always had this killer instinct - he's always had something to prove but the difference is now it's winning at not proving himself like in the past.
