Kobe's teammates failed him today in the 3rd quarter. All he essentially asked them to do is to play one end of the court, and they couldnt even do that well.

Well, in their defense Kobe wasn't playing on that end of the floor either. And most guys in the NBA don't play good defense when they're just standing around on offense.

It's about a quarter away for an elite player like Kobe

So then that means I'm correct?

19 in one quarter? not against the celtics defense

That won't happen again, either.

If Kobe goes for 50 next game, i'll eat my sock.

Oh and here's that Simmons quote:

quote:

Kobe -- Greatness. Yes he's going to win some, but only because he wants to be considered great and that will be a by-product at times. But you'd also see him shoot his team out of a game; jack 3s when he should press the issue and get to the paint. He didn't mind losing a few games if people came away saying 'Kobe is great; look what happens when he doesn't shoot.

Honestly, that is the last thing Kobe was thinking about this night. It may sum up his career, but he was just trying to get the W tonight

Well if instead of getting his teammates involved in the 1st quarter he decided to score then he would have gotten 50 tonight IMHO.

Probably, but the Lakers probably would have gotten blown out also. Kobe wasn't feeling it early, as evidenced by his FG%

Bron's teammates helped him out when he did it in '07, Jordan's teammates helped him out when he went off.

Yeah Kobe didnt play great D, but he was playing enough to the point that if the others played about 90% on D, that they could compensate for his 75%-80%..and that has to give if he is gonna carry the load on the offensive end.

They weren't helping much when he scored 29 of the last 30 points against Detroit and singlehandedly won a game for his team.

If he goes for 25 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds the Lakers will win.

But that won't happen.

I hate Kobe but he played his arse off. His teamates SUCKED! I'm all for Kobe jumping somebody's shite for not doing the job. Bird & Jordan did the same thing. It's starting to look like 2008 again without Bynum full strength. Laker fans should be very worried. Especially now that Pierce & Garnett seem to be rolling right now. Damn, Pierce lit Ron up. I was pretty surprised by that.

Roll players seem to play better at home in the playoffs so LA still has a chance. I wouldn't be so confident though because of Bynum's injury. Odom has to show up, damn.

thats what I meant.

In the end its still a team game.

Pierce carried them, and the others held their own defensively.

Kobe cant stop the celtics 1 on 5 on D

I don't remember Bird or MJ flailing there arms in the air over and over, or making that little smirk Kobe makes when his teammates are fricking up.

Just sayin

This is a good question. And Kobe isn't perfect he isn't the greatest teammate in the world and he ballhogs it a bit,but he has reason to because he is the best player in the world and he can do whatever he wants, especially when he has four rings. He wants to win so bad so I don't blame him.

You're right on that. But I was talking about jumping someone's shite for not doing the job, especially on defense. It's his team and he should be able to tell someone they're not getting it done. The Lakers would be the Utah Jazz without Kobe. They get smoked tonight without him.

Artest isn't as good/consistent defensively as he used to be. I couldn't believe the Lakers gave him a five year deal last summer. Look at what they'll have to deal with for the foreseeable future.

Well in Kobe's defense, he says, "well If we move the ball around, I get blamed for not taking over, AND we get blown out."

well, you know, it's not like kobe hasn't refused to shoot in a critical playoff game solely to show up his teammates to show them how inferior they are to him

They shoulda given Ron some help instead of letting Pierce iso like that. Make him pass the ball. Oh well, even Phil isn't perfect.

I was hoping that he'd lose it tonight. Simmons said that he was glaring at the Celtics' huddle during a timeout, started shaking his head and called them a bunch of pussy asses
