The helicopter should have never been cleared to fly if LAPD wasn’t even willing to go up.
Why is that?
Is the airspace all based off of what the police do?
No, it isn't.
That's not the issue.
Watching the NTSB press conference from earlier today. The grounding of police helicopters was asked about.
They said it’s an apples and oranges subject fwiw.

I've heard the impact was at 184mph,
There is audio from a security camera near the crash. You can hear the helicopter flying near, then at the end you hear the impact thud. Its on foxnews.com

Same. I can’t count how many times since Sunday I’ve been doing something and this pops into my head out of nowhere. Unbelievable.

I read that they were 20-30 feet away from clearing the top of the mountain. It’s so weird seeing videos of Kobe and realizing he is not here anymore.

in consideration of the continued coverage and outpouring all over the world, i think this is the biggest celebrity death (from a domestic perspective) in my 38 years; even bigger than michael jackson.
not to say that kobe was as big of a celebrity as jackson (or even close), but the circumstances of his death just make it a bigger tragedy and story. not to mention a good portion of people think jackson was a kiddie diddler and said good riddance.

Its way bigger than MJ. I was golfing when that happened. Another guy mentioned it, he was one of the few with a smartphone. I was like "yep, that makes sense" and everyone kept golfing. This is the pinnacle of social media and access. Much more untimely as well.
